A group of our member had the privilege of writing a song and having it put to music through the Overture Center for the Arts My Melody program. Today we had a lovely time hearing their songs and sharing them with friends and family.

We had a blast this morning hosting Jeanie B! Music for Overture's Kids in the Rotunda! Audience members of all ages gathered for an engaging performance complete with sing-alongs, colorful props, and so many bubbles. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to sing, dance, and play! 🎉🎸

Yesterday, our community was shaken by the killing of a Black community member, Corey Ruiz, by a police officer. Our heart breaks for Corey’s loved ones. People across our city are feeling the impact of this tragedy.

People may experience a range of reactions, including sadness, anger, confusion, fear, grief, or distraction. Others may feel the weight of this event because of personal experiences, their identities, their relationships to those involved, or the nature of their work. Each person’s response is unique, and there is no right or wrong way to feel.

There will be a candlelight vigil tonight at 5pm at the corner of Baldwin and Williamson Street. As you process what has happened, your feelings might be strong or fluid. If you need to talk to someone immediate support is available via the 988 crisis line, and Public Health Madison Dane County has additional resources(external).

This role involves going out into the community and developing, promoting, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating programs for older adults in their neighborhoods.
