It was a sheer joy to control traffic and cheer these teams on yesterday! Also an unbelievable feat. I can't do one leg of this triathlon, and these peeps do it while supporting a rider the whole way. Everyone finished the course just as the rain started! What a great day!

Good Morning! 🌞 It's Hero Hustle Triathlon day! Which means some streets and roads will be closed to through traffic. This event brings in competitors from all over the Midwest and raises money for important emergency services like new EMS bags, fire equipment and the Delaware County Drone Team.

Heading back into a hot stormy pattern. If you have an outdoor to-do list, now is the time to get it done before hot, steamy weather is back!

Active/Hot weather is expected Sunday onward. Increasing temps/humidity will result in heat index values approaching 100, especially for areas south of I-80. Chances for showers/storms will also increase north of I-80 into next week.

One of my favorite parts of the job is all of the people I get to work with!

Every day, emergency managers work alongside law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, hospitals, schools, public health, utilities, volunteers, and many others.

Working together before disasters happen helps communities respond faster and recover stronger.

Bixby State Preserve is such a neat area, but could be dangerous in an instant. Today was a great day exercising a wide area search and rescue. Thanks to Edgewood Fire, Edgewood Ambulance, Delaware County Sheriff's Office, and the joint drone team for spending this beautiful Saturday working to ensure skills are up to par for our citizens! And once again, Mabel got all the pets. But she also practiced working with the simulated missing person's family to provide comfort.

Emergency managers continuously monitor conditions, coordinate with the National Weather Service, and work with local partners to help communities stay informed and prepared.

Even on sunny days, the planning never stops.
