The Texas Municipal League recognized Emergency Management Coordinator Amanda Carlisle as a Leadership Fellow on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Austin Marriott Hotel in Round Rock.

Amanda Carlisle was honored by Monty Wynn, Texas Municipal League (TML) Executive Director, during the awards ceremony. The award recipients – elected, appointed, first responders, and other city leaders from throughout Texas – voluntarily completed more than 25 hours of training, held over two months, to enhance their leadership skills.

Participants explored the principles and characteristics of ethical leadership, learned to build trust and community, discovered ways to improve team building and communication skills, and practiced negotiation for strategic influence. They discussed local issues in the broader leadership context, with the goal of applying learnings to their public service role and to benefit their cities and residents.

Created in 1913, the Texas Municipal League is a nonprofit organization that provides legal guidance, legislative advocacy, publications, training, and networking opportunities to officials from over 1,171 cities in Texas.

C-shift spent the morning training on hose and bundle package deployments at one of our in-district apartment complexes. Crews developed strategies and worked through repetitions with the goal of quickly getting water on an upper-floor fire. Our area has experienced significant growth in the number of large apartment complexes. While these properties generally have excellent fire protection systems in place, we strive to be prepared for all scenarios. Thank you to the Homestead Apartments for allowing us to hone our skills in a real-world setting.

2025 VALOR AWARD WINNER: The Texas Fire Chiefs Association proudly awards the 2025 Medal of Valor to Fire Chief Michael E. Phillips of the Marble Falls Area Volunteer Fire Department. This honor recognizes his extraordinary courage and his ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

On July 5, 2025, during the devastating Central Texas floods, Chief Phillips was responding to calls for help when his emergency vehicle was swept away by rapidly rising floodwaters. He was serving his community in its time of greatest need, and he did not return.

Chief Phillips dedicated more than 30 years to the fire service. He led with quiet strength, steady commitment, and an unwavering sense of duty. His loss is felt deeply within his department, across the fire service, and throughout the community he served.

The Medal of Valor recognizes acts of extraordinary courage and sacrifice. Chief Phillips’ actions on that day reflect the very best of the fire service. He placed others before himself without hesitation.

We honor his service. We honor his sacrifice. We honor his legacy.

Marble Falls Fire Rescue was proud to participate in today’s Job Fair at MFHS! 🚒

It was a great opportunity to connect with students, share what a career in the fire service looks like, and talk about the many paths available in emergency services. From firefighting and EMS to fire prevention and emergency management, we enjoyed answering questions and giving students a glimpse into what we do every day to serve our community.

Thank you to the school for hosting such a fantastic event and to all the students who stopped by to visit with us—we look forward to seeing some of you in the future!

Marble Falls Fire Rescue had a great time hosting Smoking with Jesus Ministry Christian School this morning! 🚒

Students got an up-close look at what firefighters do every day, from exploring our trucks and equipment to learning about fire safety and emergency response. We love the opportunity to connect with our community and hopefully inspire the next generation along the way.

Thanks for spending the morning with us—we had a blast! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

🚒Marble Falls Fire Rescue C-Shift recently conducted specialized training focused on wire entanglement emergencies—an often overlooked but dangerous situation firefighters can face on scene.

From downed power lines to communication wires and debris, entanglement hazards require quick thinking, situational awareness, and the right techniques to safely free both victims and responders. During this hands-on training, firefighters practiced identifying hazards, utilizing specialized tools, and executing safe disentanglement procedures.

Training like this ensures our crews are prepared for the unexpected and can operate safely in even the most complex environments.

Your safety is our priority—on every call, every time. 🚒

👏A big thank you to Highland Lakes Furniture for donating the pallets that helped us build our wire entanglement training prop! Support from our local businesses makes a real difference in how we prepare.

We appreciate your continued support of Marble Falls Fire Rescue and our mission to keep the community safe! 🚒
