⚡ LCEC WORK NOTICE

The City of Marco Island has been notified that LCEC crews will perform work near 600 S. Collier Blvd. on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Work is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m., with LCEC crews expected on-site around 8:30 a.m. Crews will replace a piece of electrical equipment.

Please use caution while traveling through the area and watch for workers and service vehicles.

The City of Marco Island is proud to congratulate our Human Resources Director, Diana Snover, MSHR, who was honored with a Hero’s Award today at the Collier County Emergency Readiness Summit!

Diana received the award for her lifesaving actions when a patron collapsed at a local restaurant. Without hesitation, she stepped in and began performing CPR, continuing chest compressions until first responders arrived. Her quick thinking, training and willingness to act helped save a life.

Diana’s actions are an important reminder of the critical role bystander CPR can play during a cardiac emergency. The minutes before first responders arrive matter, and immediate chest compressions can help keep blood flowing to the brain and other vital organs until advanced care arrives.

Congratulations, Diana, on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for stepping up when every second counted!

Marco Island Fire Rescue Deploys to Texas Wildfires

Today, Marco Island Fire Rescue answered the call to help a community in need.

As a member of Florida DEM Region 6, Marco Island Fire Rescue was requested to deploy personnel and equipment to assist with the devastating wildfires burning in Texas.

Brush 50 and two Marco Island firefighters are deploying to Palo Pinto, Texas, as part of a Florida Strike Team assisting with firefighting efforts at the Ross Fire, which has grown to more than 85,000 acres. The deployment is expected to last approximately two weeks.

Marco Island has relied on mutual aid from agencies across the country following hurricanes and other major incidents. This deployment is an opportunity for us to return that support and help another community during its time of need.

How do we prepare to keep you safe? 🚒

Part of keeping you safe means making sure our equipment is ready to go when an emergency happens.

This morning, Marco Island Fire Rescue firefighters completed their routine apparatus checks on Tower 50, our ladder truck.

Apparatus checks are an important part of every shift. Crews inspect the truck, test critical equipment, check tools and safety gear, and make sure everything is properly stocked and functioning as it should.

These checks help identify potential issues before an emergency happens, because when the call comes in, our firefighters and their equipment need to be ready to respond.

It may look routine, but preparation like this is an important part of protecting our community every day.

When the Alarm Sounds, Get Out

Have you ever seen one of our fire trucks responding through Marco Island? Our crews could be heading to any number of emergencies, including a reported fire alarm.

Today, we’re highlighting a simple but important reminder: if you hear a fire alarm in your building, evacuate.

Don’t assume it’s a false alarm or wait to see what everyone else is doing. Leave the building using the nearest safe exit, avoid elevators, and move to a safe location away from the building. Once you’re out, stay out until firefighters or building officials tell you it’s safe to return.

Fire alarms are designed to give you the time you need to get to safety, and every activation should be taken seriously.

Building for the Future: Marco Island Invests in New Fire Apparatus

Marco Island City Council has approved the purchase of two new fire apparatus for Marco Island Fire Rescue, representing an investment of more than $3.5 million in the City’s fire and emergency response capabilities.

Council took action after evaluating the reliability issues, increasing maintenance costs and excessive downtime associated with an aging apparatus fleet.

The new apparatus will include a Pierce Enforcer Pumper and a Pierce Enforcer 100-foot Ascendant Tower.

We thank our City Council, City leadership and the Marco Island community for their continued support of our firefighters and their investment in the equipment needed to serve our community safely and effectively.

DID YOU KNOW? ⚡

The City of Marco Island has a ThorGuard Lightning Warning System designed to help keep residents and visitors safe when lightning conditions become dangerous.

ThorGuard is a prediction-based system, meaning it monitors atmospheric conditions and predicts when there is a high probability of lightning within approximately two miles of the main sensor at City Hall.

🔴 LONG SIREN + FLASHING STROBE = RED ALERT
A 15-second siren will sound and the strobe light will begin flashing. Immediately seek safe shelter.

🟢 THREE SHORT SIRENS + NO STROBE = ALL CLEAR
Three 5-second siren blasts will sound and the flashing strobe will turn off.

You may have seen the system’s small white domed stations, sometimes described as looking like “mushrooms,” around the island. Stations are located at:

• City Hall
• Mackle Park
• Winterberry Park

The system operates seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Remember:
⚡ Long siren + flashing light = Seek shelter
✅ Three short sirens + no flashing light = All clear

Marco Island Fire Rescue is seeing an increase in heat-related emergencies across our community.

With high temperatures and humidity, heat exhaustion and heat stroke can develop quickly, especially when working, exercising or spending extended periods outdoors.

Help protect yourself and others:
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day
• Take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
• Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day
• Never leave children or pets inside a parked vehicle

Watch for warning signs including dizziness, headache, nausea, weakness, confusion or fainting.

If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness or appears to be experiencing a serious heat-related emergency, call 911 immediately.

Stay hydrated, take breaks and stay safe in the heat.

Yesterday was a fantastic day of connection, community, and smiles for Marco Island Fire Rescue! 🚒❤️
We started the day with some very special visitors at Station 50— The Marco Island Moms and their children who stopped by to meet our firefighter / paramedics for a Station tour, apparatus display and even got the chance to experience flowing water from a real fire hose. Later that afternoon, we joined the back-to-school event at Marco Island Charter Middle School.

One of the highlights? Our Tower/Ladder crew provided a wet-down for the kids, and the cheers and excitement were absolutely priceless! 🎉

It’s days and interactions like these that make being a firefighter so special. Our team truly enjoys connecting with the people we serve, building relationships, and being part of the community beyond the emergency calls.

We’re proud to be a community-driven department, and we’re grateful to our partners AL's Pals for inviting us to the Marco Island Charter Middle School event, as well as our friends Marco Island Police Department for being part of the day.
