Maynard Democratic Town Committee

Maynard Democratic Town Committee Dedicated to Democratic Values Join us! DUE TO COVID we are meeting on Zoom calls
We meet at the Maynard Library and at other venues in town.

Visitors are always welcome and we encourage participation by all of Maynard’s Democrats! Meetings are posted on the website and on Facebook. The Democratic Party is an organization built on the principle of inclusion, regardless of income level, family background, profession, race, gender or religion. We welcome all people into our ranks, recognizing that we live in a multi-cultural and pluralist

ic society that must address the needs of a wide diversity of people, not merely a fortunate few. The Maynard Democratic Town Committee (DTC) is the local arm of the State and National Democratic Party. DTC members also share a common vision aligned with the traditional principles of the Democratic Party and work locally in a variety of ways to advance these principles. DTC Members must be registered Democrats and residents of Maynard. The public elects members every four years. People may also choose to participate as associate members or simply as friends of the DTC. Website: www.maynarddems.org

DPW – Emergency notification – Water and Sewer Department. We are reporting a water main break that took place overnight on Walnut Street, specifically the bridge. The break has been isolated. We will be coordinating a specialized utility crew to repair the break under the bridge. This process will take time, and we plan to start this work on Monday the 29th.

Due to the nature of this issue, and its impact to the bridge, the bridge will be closed to through traffic indefinitely until full repair is completed, and a full structural evaluation of the bridge is performed. Please plan accordingly to avoid Walnut Street bridge. This includes no pedestrian use.

Our utility lost a significant amount of water due to this break, which has resulted in a system wide disturbance. The impacts have reached as far as the presidential neighborhood, disturbances like this result in low water pressure and discolored water. This disturbance will subside over the next two days as the break has been isolated. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this issue.

PLEASE NOTE: Tuesday's Read-a-thon Fundraiser will be held inside the library, on the 3rd floor, due to the expected rain. Of course, the serving of pizza to participants still applies. 🙂

Read-a-thon Fundraiser
Tuesday, June 23 at 10am
The library will be open only to Read-a-thon participants. The building will open to the general public at the usual Tuesday time of 2pm.

Here's your big chance to perform a major deed. Batman catches bad guys, Spiderman climbs buildings (and catches bad guys), and now you can do something even better - read to raise money for the library! It's a really good deed because the Friends use the money you give them to pay for fun programs and activities like animal shows, space programs, and other terrific experiences.

You ask friends and relatives for pledges (ex. 5 cents a page, 10 cents a page, etc.), then however many pages you read that's how much money you make. Donate that to the Friends of the Library and they take it from there. And for being so nice, everyone gets free pizza and drinks! So how about getting in on this great action?

P.S. Raise ten dollars and get a free Erikson's coupon. Raise $50 and get three Erikson"s coupons.

Where: Library 3rd floor
Ages: everyone
When: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Make checks payable to the "Friends of the Maynard Public Library"

Our new trash carts are here!
1. Delivery of new trash carts begins on Monday, 6/22/2026 and continues throughout the week. Remember, only these new carts may be used for Town of Maynard trash pickup, since the Town is standardizing trash carts.
2. A green information packet is taped inside your cart. It contains your stickers and instructions regarding where to place the stickers.
3. Continue to use your current recycling cart(s). Delivery of any additional recycling carts or smaller recycling carts requested, etc. will occur later. Stay tuned for details.
4. The first collections using the new program will be on Wednesday, July 1. This is a recycling week, so be sure to place BOTH your trash cart and your recyclables cart curbside prior to 7 a.m.
5. We will remain on the same collection schedule. For example, if your trash normally gets collected on a Friday, your first day with the new program will be on Friday.
6. Remember: If your collection day falls on Monday, June 29 or Tuesday, June 30, you will use the current/old program of placing $2 or $4 stickers on your trash bags on those two days.
