Recently, the command hosted members of the Pennsylvania Military Community Enhancement Commission (PMCEC) for visits to the three Navy installation sites across Pennsylvania - the Philadelphia Navy Yard, NSA Philadelphia, and NSA Mechanicsburg.
Dr. Annette Nance, Director of PMCEC, Sue Suleski, Director of Operations and Strategic Programs, PMCEC staff members, and the appointed commissioners for the installations toured the sites and received a command brief from Commanding Officer Capt. Geno Dawson highlighting the critical work performed throughout the regions.
At NSA Philadelphia, the group visited Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support to gain a firsthand look at capabilities that support the warfighter around the globe. Highlights included the Flag Room, where presidential flags are hand-sewn and military colors are produced for use throughout the Department of War, as well as the Product Test Center Analytical Lab, where materials undergo rigorous testing to ensure quality and performance. The group also viewed key installation infrastructure, including the boiler system that supports operations across much of the installation.
The tour provided an opportunity to showcase the Navy's mission in Pennsylvania and the vital contributions of tenant commands, civilian personnel, and installation infrastructure that enable operational readiness.
PMCEC serves as an advocate for military installations, organizations, and defense-related stakeholders across the Commonwealth, helping strengthen the relationship between Pennsylvania communities and the missions they support.
The Navy's footprint in Pennsylvania delivers effects far beyond the Commonwealth, providing critical capabilities that support the Fleet, the warfighter, and national defense around the world.
