‘Anybody Can Do It’: TSC Graduate Becomes First From Family, DASH to Earn Degree

Jada Parker graduates this month from Tallahassee State College with an associate’s degree in psychology. Parker, a participant in the Dreams and Success Homes Family program for youth who have aged out of foster care, is the first in both her family and this program to earn a degree. DASH was started five years ago by Mike Williams, who experienced homelessness after aging out of foster care, and wanted to help other teens like him. Parker credits DASH with helping her focus - “I would set goals but I would procrastinate and I would never get anything done. So definitely being able to have someone hold me accountable for those goals has definitely changed a lot. I have been able to get everything done. I’m graduating. I’m in a stable job. I work full time at a daycare which I really love,” she said.
