🏳️‍🌈 Delco Pride returns to State Street next weekend for its Fourth Annual Pride Parade and Pride on State celebration.

On Saturday, June 6, thousands of residents, families, and local organizations will gather in Media for a full day of events highlighting visibility, inclusion, and support for LGBTQ+ neighbors across Delaware County. The parade runs from 12–1 PM, followed by Pride on State activities hosted by businesses throughout downtown — from performances and meet‑ups to family‑friendly programming.

Events are free, welcoming, and open to everyone. I encourage residents to stop by, show support, and enjoy one of Delco’s newest and most vibrant community traditions.

📢 A final reminder...

🌿 Join us this Saturday, May 30, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at our annual Delco Environmental Expo at Rose Tree Park. This is a great chance to learn about renewable energy, EVs, weatherization, electric‑powered tools, and local sustainability efforts, plus this year’s new Clothing Swap (bring your gently used clothes and exchange them for something new to you).

🌱 Rep. Jennifer O'Mara, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, and I will be joined by members of our Southeast PA Delegation, along with PennEnvironment and local organizations working on sustainability across the region.

♻️ The Delaware County Office of Sustainability will also host its Campaign Sign Recycling event the same morning, 9 a.m. – 12 noon, at Rose Tree Park.

So, bring your gently used clothing, your election (and other lawn signs), and your curiosity — there’s a lot to learn, try out, and talk about as we work toward cleaner, greener communities together.

📣 Last week, I spoke at a press conference hosted by the Williams Penn School District to highlight and celebrate the district’s national “District on the Rise” recognition in the Education Recovery Scorecard — a major milestone for a community that spent years doing more with less. 📊✨

🏛️ After the Commonwealth Court ruled in 2023 that Pennsylvania’s school‑funding system was unconstitutional, my colleagues and I in the State Senate and House, began fighting for major new investments to the districts that had been underfunded the longest. Those dollars — more than $900 million in new pre‑K–12 funding in the 2025–26 budget, including $565 million in adequacy funding — are beginning to have an impact on the schools that needed them most.

📚 For William Penn, that has meant the ability to hire more teachers, expand academic supports, update aging facilities, and stabilize programs that had been stretched thin for years.

🌙 To all observing Eid al‑Adha, we send our warmest wishes for peace, joy, and renewal.

✨ Eid al‑Adha, observed by Muslims around the world, is a tradition rooted in devotion, generosity, and service to others. Families and communities offer charity, share meals, and reflect on the values that guide their faith, drawing on a long‑held commitment to compassion, responsibility, and care for those in need.

🤝 We’re grateful for neighbors who share their traditions and spirit, enriching our district in so many ways. Eid al‑Adha Mubarak.

🧧🏝️🏮🌸 🏯 May is recognized each year as Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, a time to honor the history, cultures, and contributions of AAPI communities across the country and here in Delaware County.

As May winds down, the opportunities to learn from and engage with AAPI heritage continue all year long. Our region is home to a wealth of cultural sites and organizations that preserve and share these stories — including the Philip Jaisohn Memorial House in Media, the American Chinese Museum in Philadelphia, Shofuso Japanese House and Garden in Fairmount Park, the regional Asian Arts Initiative, (the community‑based arts organization offering exhibitions, performances, and programs that highlight contemporary AAPI voices), and the Upper Darby International Festival — held every September — which offers an annual celebration where Asian cultures, along with many others, are showcased through food, music, dance, and community performances.

🌟 Just some of the many ways we are fortunate here in Delaware County to be able to experience and appreciate the rich diversity of those of Asian and Pacific Islander heritage.

🇺🇸 From Aldan to Upper Darby, from Prospect Park to Swarthmore, and from Springfield to Secane, many of our communities marked Memorial Day with ceremonies, color guards, tributes, and moments of reflection.

🇺🇸 Despite the uncooperative weather, parades, flag raisings, 21‑gun salutes, and other observances went on as planned, and I was honored to attend as many as the miles and hours allowed.

🇺🇸 Along the way, I joined Rep. Heather Boyd, Rep. Gina H. Curry, Rep. Jennifer O'Mara, Rep. David M Delloso, Ed Brown, Mayor Upper Darby Township, and many local leaders, Veterans, and residents in honoring our fallen heroes. I’m grateful to have joined communities across the county in recognizing the sacrifice of those lost in service to our country.

🇺🇸 Ceremonies and parades across Delco today honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Their courage and dedication protect the freedoms we cherish and remind us of the true cost of service.

As we move through the hustle and bustle of the unofficial start of summer, I hope everyone also takes a moment to reflect on the legacies of our fallen friends, family, and neighbors. May we remember their sacrifice, uphold the values they fought to protect, and carry their memory with respect this Memorial Day.
