Friday morning(5/26/26), Rose Tree firefighters responded on mutual aid to Edgmont Township for a reported bedroom fire.
Upon arrival, crews found the fire had already been knocked down by first-arriving companies. Rose Tree personnel assisted with overhaul and supported EMS with patient care. Due to the property’s steep terrain, the elderly homeowners were located on a rear deck at Division 2 while the fire room was located on Division 1. Crews assisted EMS with safely bringing the residents down from the deck for further evaluation.
The video shows Quint 73 responding to the call—our “old faithful.” While we’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Quint 73, this truck continues to answer the bell whenever called upon.
For years, our engineer team has gone to great lengths to keep this aging apparatus in service. Through countless hours of maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and ingenuity, they have continued to find ways to keep Quint 73 ready for the next call. As the truck has aged, however, obtaining replacement parts and maintaining specialized systems has become increasingly difficult. What was once an occasional challenge has become an exponential one.
Yet despite those challenges, Quint 73 continues to roll out the door and serve our community. This response is another reminder of the dedication of our members—not only those riding the truck, but also those behind the scenes who work tirelessly to keep it operational.
After decades of dedicated service to Upper Providence and surrounding communities, she continues to get the job done.
Thank you to all companies that operated on scene, and we’re glad this incident had a positive outcome for the residents involved. 🚒
