The Whitney faculty & staff didn’t need markers,post-it notes, or chart paper for their 1st day back in the building. The only materials needed for today were a growth mindset and positive vibes!
The motivation & inspiration for the start of the year was provided by Dr.Beaty-Principal,
Dr. Lashaunda Terry-Johnson and the distinguished Dr. Willie Herenton. Dr.Terry-Johnson reminded everyone to “Run Together” and to “Recover Quickly” from the challenges we will face. Dr.Herenton provided many words of wisdom aligned to Superintendent Richmond’s “5A’s in Action initiative, with a heavy focus on Attendance & Academics.

Bus Transportation Information ….

We are waiting on the bus routes for Whitney. Our Transportation Department is carefully considering the number of buses as well as the routes for all students including those joining us from Frayser-Corning and Georgian Hills Elementary Schools.
As the principal I am concerned about every student getting to school in a timely, safe manner. We should have more information for parents on Registration Da, Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
