🚨 Structural Collapse Specialist Training Complete 🚨

This week, the Memphis Fire Department Special Operations Team and Tennessee Task Force One: Urban Search & Rescue completed an intensive 80-hour Structural Collapse Specialist course.

Participants received hands-on training in emergency shoring, lifting and moving techniques, and breaching and breaking operations. The course concluded with a large-scale rescue scenario involving 16 simulated victims trapped in a collapsed structure.

We commend all participants for their hard work and commitment throughout the course. The skills gained through this training help ensure our members remain prepared to respond when our community needs them most.

To help residents stay safe during the extreme heat, a Cooling Center will be open today, June 10th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at:
The Hospitality Hub of Memphis
590 Washington Avenue

Free transportation to the Cooling Center by MATA will begin at 4:00 p.m. For transportation assistance, please call The Hospitality Hub's dedicated line at 901-486-0939.

If you or someone you know needs relief from the heat, please take advantage of this cooling location. Staying hydrated and limiting prolonged outdoor exposure are important steps to prevent heat-related illness.

Today, the Memphis Fire Department Command Staff provided donuts to personnel across the department as a small token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

Whether responding to emergencies, answering 911 calls, maintaining apparatus, supporting operations, or working behind the scenes, our members make a difference every day.

Thursday evening, the Memphis Fire Department proudly welcomed 56 new members into service.

Graduating were 51 firefighter recruits, 3 single-role paramedics, 1 Fire Alarm Operator, and 1 EMS Instructor—each having completed the training, testing, and preparation required to serve the citizens of Memphis.

From the classroom to the drill field, these men and women have demonstrated dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence. As they begin the next chapter of their careers, they join a long tradition of Memphis firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and instructors who answer the call whenever our community needs them most.

Please join us in congratulating these graduates and wishing them success as they take their place in the ranks of the Memphis Fire Department.

Join us this Thursday, June 4, as we celebrate the graduation of 51 dedicated recruits, 3 single-role paramedics, and 1 alarm operator who have successfully completed their training and are ready to begin serving the citizens of Memphis.

These men and women have answered the call to public service and are prepared to make a positive impact in our community as the newest members of the Memphis Fire Department.

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve facilities and ensure our firefighters have the best tools and workspaces possible, Fire Station 7, located at 1017 Jefferson Ave., Memphis, TN 38104, will be temporarily closed for renovations beginning June 8, 2026.
