Schiff Natural Lands Trust is thrilled to announce our 8th Annual Farm to Table Benefit Dinner on Friday, September 25th at 6:00 PM at the idyllic Hacklebarney Farm Cider Mill in Chester, NJ.

Hosted on a historic fifth-generation family farm, this will mark the first event of its kind ever held at Hacklebarney Farm Cider Mill. Set amongst orchards, historic barns, and the scenic rolling hills of the New Jersey countryside, guests will dine in a uniquely curated setting while savoring seasonal handcrafted specialities in celebration of conservation, local agriculture and community.
Attendance is limited to just 200 guests to ensure an intimate and unforgettable evening. Schiff members will receive exclusive early access to ticket sales.

🦉 Mendham's Natural Tapestry
Experience the beauty of Mendham through stunning wildlife photography by Marta Longo and Chris Neff, narrated by Peter Dinklage. From bobcats and bears to birds, butterflies, streams, and forests, this inspiring short film showcases the remarkable biodiversity that makes our community so special. A short discussion to follow with the production team!

The festival's featured film is an award-winning documentary chronicling the revival of New Jersey's local grain movement—from farm to table. Director Jared Flesher will introduce the film and participate in a live discussion and audience Q&A following the screening.

What a fantastic evening at Music in the Woods!

More than 100 guests joined us for a sold-out show beneath the forest canopy as Jerry Go Round delivered an unforgettable performance in the woods of Schiff Nature Preserve.

The band featured John Turpin on guitar and vocals, John Soward on guitar and vocals, Pete Lister on bass and vocals, Joe Biglin on keys and vocals, Dave DeRiso on drums and percussion, and Sharon Brackelmanns on flute and harmonies, joined by special guest Jill Turpin on harmonies.

A huge thank you to the band, our volunteers, and everyone who came out to support live music and conservation. We were also thrilled to welcome three new Schiff members to our community during the event! Nights like these remind us how special it is to gather together in nature.

As we look back on Schiff Natural Lands Trust’s 7th Annual Farm to Table Benefit Dinner, we are filled with gratitude for such a memorable evening at the breathtaking Preserve at Dunwalke Farm. Guests enjoyed guided tours of the Preserve, a historical talk by W. Barry Thomson, cocktail hour, live music by The Lazy Sky, and a seasonal three-course dinner celebrating the flavors of the region.

Now, we are thrilled to look ahead to this year’s 8th Annual Farm to Table Benefit Dinner, taking place at the idyllic Hacklebarney Farm Cider Mill in Chester, NJ, on Friday, September 25th at 6:00 PM.

Join us under the stars for Schiff Natural Lands Trust’s 17th Annual Environmental Film Festival on Saturday, June 6 at Schiff Nature Preserve!

This year’s featured film, Good Grain, celebrates the revival of New Jersey’s local grain movement, from organic wheat fields to artisan bakeries and craft breweries, followed by a live Q&A with award-winning director Jared Flesher.

Enjoy an unforgettable evening in our woodland amphitheater featuring live music by Lincoln Vera, complimentary popcorn and ice cream from Cream of the Crop, and hayride or a short scenic hike to and from the amphitheater.

Please join us in welcoming our newest staff member, Jayson Daniels, to the Schiff Natural Lands Trust team!

Jayson joins Schiff as our new Director of Development, bringing more than two decades of fundraising and development experience focused primarily on healthcare and education. Most recently, he served as Director of Development at The Wardlaw + Hartridge School and holds a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Finance from Rutgers University.

A lifelong Scout and current Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 118 in Denville, Jayson is passionate about mentorship, community, and the outdoors. Jayson teaches and trains in Isshinryu karate and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

We are excited to have Jayson on board and look forward to the knowledge, enthusiasm, and energy he will bring to Schiff. Welcome, Jayson!

✨ A little woodland magic is coming to Schiff! ✨

Join us for our “Build a Fairy House at Schiff” program on Saturday, June 13th! Families and children are invited to decorate fairy houses using natural materials gathered from nature’s inspiration. Once completed, the fairy houses will become part of a whimsical fairy village hidden along one of the trails at Schiff Nature Preserve! All ages are welcome! Advanced registration is required. Rain date: June 20th.

Schiff Natural Lands Trust is proud to be selected as a 2026 Water and Environment grantee!

We are deeply appreciative of the American Water Charitable Foundation’s investment in our Native Tree Restoration Project, which helps us safeguard newly planted trees along sensitive stream areas, protecting water quality, wildlife habitat, and the long-term health of Schiff Nature Preserve. Replanting native trees is one of the many strategies we employ as part of implementing our Land Management Plan and restoring resilient forest ecosystems for future generations.
