In 1864, General Sherman and his troops destroyed the railroad tracks and burned tons of freight, leaving the General to declare in a

Our little learners had a fun-filled morning of play, creativity, and making new friends! From hands-on actvities to plenty of smiles, we loved seeing everyone having fun together. 🥰

We had such a fun Monday morning together — because apparently nothing brings out your competitive side quite like waiting on that ONE number you need. 😂

Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library will be closed Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day.

We will reopen Tuesday, September 8 during regular hours.

📚✨ A Warm Welcome to MLCPL! ✨📚

Yesterday was a special evening at the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library as we opened our doors to friends, patrons, community partners, and supporters for a Meet & Greet welcoming our new Executive Director, Mr. Floyd Council! 🎉

There were plenty of smiles, conversations, introductions, and sweet treats as everyone had a chance to stop by, say hello, and get to know Mr. Council. 🧁💙

Moments like these remind us that a library is so much more than a building filled with books — it’s a community. We’re incredibly thankful to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so welcoming.

As we turn the page and begin this new chapter at MLCPL, we’re excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and serve our community together. 📖✨

Special thanks to our library patrons, MLCPL Library Team, Board of trustees, Meridian-Lauderdale County Friends of the Library, Mayor Percy Bland, Lauderdale County Commissioner for District 4, Joe Norwood, Meridian Police Department, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s office, a host of community organizations, and a host of local media.

🎨 Toddler Tuesday Fun! 🖍️✨

Yesterday our little artists put their fine motor skills to work with a fun Q-Tip Color Craft! 💛💙❤️

Using Q-tips and paint, our toddlers filled in the missing colors to complete each picture. A little painting, a little color practice, and a whole lot of creativity! 🥰

We love seeing our littlest library friends learn, create, and have fun together each Tuesday! 📚🎨

We had a wonderful turnout Monday for our Musician Spotlight featuring Brittanie Campbell! 🎤✨ Thank you to Brittanie for sharing her music and talent with us, and thank you to everyone who joined us!

At the library, we believe stories aren’t only found between the pages of a book. They can be sung through music, brought to life on screen, shared through conversation, and discovered right here in our community. ❤️

We look forward to continuing to bring people together through music, books, movies, and all the different ways stories can be told.

📚🎶 There’s always another story waiting to be discovered at the library.
