The Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition (MADC) was initiated by the executive order of Mayor Tammy de Weerd in 2004.

To build Meridian into a drug free community where people can safely live, work and raise a family. OUR GOALS
To educate adults and youth about the harmful and costly, direct and indirect, efforts of drug use. To achieve awareness by targeting media messaging, social norms and attitudes, and the accessibility of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. To consistently monitor and evaluate interventions to determine their effectiveness thereby allowing the MADC to sustain successful strategies and improve or replace those deemed less effective.

💊 Over 480 lbs. of medications were collected at the Rx Take Back Day event held this past weekend!

We’re grateful for the collaboration and partnership with ISU L. S. Skaggs College of Pharmacy and Health Professions Generation Rx students, the Drug Enforcement Administration - DEA, the Meridian Police Department - Idaho, and Republic Services for helping provide a safe and convenient way for our community to responsibly dispose of unused or unwanted prescription medications.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and took an important step toward keeping our homes, families, and community safe! Proper medication disposal helps prevent misuse and keeps medications out of the wrong hands. 💙

💊 Accepted items include pills/capsules, liquid medications, pet medications, and vapes/e-cigarettes with the battery removed. No sharps accepted. There will be free resources while supplies last!

Red Ribbon Week 2026 runs from October 23-31. This national campaign encourages youth, families, and communities to make healthy choices and live drug-free.

We’ve partnered with West Ada School District again this year to provide schools with fun, engaging resources to help spread awareness and encourage students to be everyday heroes by making positive, drug-free choices!

A big shoutout to Mr. Rogerson’s Marketing Class at Eagle High School-Mustangs for using their creativity and marketing skills to develop different concepts focusing on substance abuse prevention and anti-drug education! 👏

By turning their ideas into impactful messages, these students are helping spread awareness, encourage healthy choices, and make a positive difference in our community. 🌟

As we gear up for Red Ribbon Week and the upcoming Rx Take Back Day on Oct. 24 at Republic Services Meridian, our wonderful team of volunteers came together to prepare resource bags for schools and community members! Special thanks to our partners with the Idaho National Guard Counterdrug Support Program for donating Red Ribbon Week wristbands, pencils, ribbons and more!

We are extremely grateful for all our volunteers - we could not do this work without you all.
