19 years ago, we tragically lost our friend and colleague Allan Parsons.

I heard the "peepers" last night. I immediately thought of your darn ring tone and then all the memories flooded my mind. 19 years have gone by. Wow is that possible. I think about would you still be in EMS? We would be considered the "senior" medics and that can translate into 2 categories. Years of experience and just being "old".

Yes, I am still here. Still one of the faces of Med-Care. Holding onto a career that I love. I'm at the other end of my career. It's a young person's game. But I feel I still have so much to teach this new generation before I'm done. EMS has changed and is still changing. I wonder how you would feel about the direction the whole healthcare system is going.

I am sad that most of the people who now work here have no idea who you were and what you meant to me and to so many others. We do have some great providers here, but you were the exception. I will continue to tell everyone about the kind of person you were.

I worked the trucks on Friday, but I won't work another 4th or 5th. I will be at home as I have been every 4th since that weekend's tragedy.

I will make sure people remember you again this year. They will know your story. The pain may be a little less but those memories of you are as strong as the day I first met you and I knew we would be friends, family.

I'll love you always.

Earlier this month our "new to us" unit 551 was placed into service and began responding to emergencies in the community. Special thanks to Captain/Paramedic Bellegarde for capturing some excellent photos for us.

Earlier this spring we provided professional development trainings for our staff. Each of our four shift officers attended a supervisor training in Vermont through a nationally recognized program specific to EMS. We also conducted our own in house training pictured here. Our Deputy and Assistant Deputy Chief’s both completed Ambulance Service Manager training in Texas.

These trainings and others were grant funded and allow us to continue to develop current and future leaders within our service.

Sharing some pics from our EMS Week BBQ! A special thank you to our board members, our staff and their families, and local public safety partners for joining us for the afternoon.

As EMS Week continues, we recognize our EMS clinicians for their hard work and dedication to providing high quality pre-hospital care. This is not always an easy thing to do; there are many challenges that EMS clinicians face. Despite these, crews adapt and ensure that patient care is prioritized.

At a time when the EMS system is changing and calls for service are increasing, know that your community is served by a great group of dedicated professionals who have made pre-hospital medicine their expertise.

Today is the beginning of EMS Week 2026. A time for us to recognize the hard work our clinicians do each day to care for our communities. Thank you to our staff, our mutual aid EMS partners and our communities for your support!

Our thoughts are with our colleagues in Waldo County after this tragic event. This has been a difficult week for first responders in Maine. We extend our deepest condolences.
