Something new is swimming through Millcreek! 🐟🎨

Local student artist Kelsey Jones has brought a new splash of color to Millcreek with a fish mural along Murray-Holladay Road .

Kelsey spent 33 hours preparing, painting, and protecting the mural. She says the project grew from her love of the way art can interact with a community, and her hope to be part of creating that connection herself.

At the August 24 City Council meeting, the Millcreek City Council had the opportunity to hear from Kelsey about her inspiration, creative process, and what she learned along the way.

One of her biggest takeaways? “People want art.” We think she may be onto something. 💙

Thank you, Kelsey, for sharing your creativity with Millcreek and adding a little more color to our community!

Millcreek leadership is reaching the national stage! 👏

Bev Uipi Millcreek City Councilwoman District 4, has been selected to serve as Second Vice President of AAPI LEAD, a national organization supporting Asian American and Pacific Islander elected officials across the United States and its territories.

Councilwoman Uipi has served on AAPI LEAD’s inaugural board since 2024. At the AAPI LEAD Summit in July, she was unanimously selected by the organization’s C3 and C4 boards of elected officials to take on this expanded leadership role.

AAPI LEAD represents a network of nearly 1,500 AAPI elected officials nationwide. Of the 1,463 officials in its 2026 database, 102 identify as Pacific Islander, highlighting the importance of ensuring Pacific Islander voices are represented in national leadership.

As Second Vice President, Councilwoman Uipi will help elevate the voices of Pacific Islander elected and appointed officials, board members, and commissioners from communities across the country, all while continuing to represent District 4 and the broader Millcreek community.

Congratulations, Councilwoman Uipi! 🎉
