Play Unplugged is back in the Valley this Summer! Play Unplugged is a challenge to all youth to unplug from electronics, find an activity, and play! Kids earn an Brag Tag for every challenge they complete. Register on our website for this free program and start your collection of Tags!
You can go on a bike ride, be an artist for the day, or show off your new dance moves to earn a Tag! Simply choose one of the challenges listed on our site, complete that challenge, and then head to business that sponsored that challenge! Make sure to check their Tag Pick up hours. See if you can collect them all this summer!

The last day of school is Friday, June 14. School begins at 8:55 (No Late Start) and we will have early release at 12:15. Breakfast and lunch will be served to students.

THE FINAL DAY OF SCHOOL IS JUNE 14! All schools will begin at their regular times on Friday, June 14, so buses will pick up at normal times. There will not be late start in any buildings, but schools will dismiss students early. Congratulations to our PACE Partners Advancing Character Education Award winner, Adam Dawes!! Adam's teacher, Mrs. Henriksen, spoke very highly of Adam's character traits. She said "Adam is diligent, hardworking and a persevering student. He is not afraid to try and fail and try again. Often I have seen Adam work a long time and put a lot of effort into one problem or one assignment to get it right. this character trait alone will bring him much success!". "Finally, Adam is a dependable and trustworthy citizen. He follows and has respect for our class and school rules which sets him apart, maximizes his learning potential, makes him a good example, and someone we can trust." 👏👏 You Rock!!

Congratulations to Nancy & Keith for winning bikes in our Bike 4 Books contest!! A HUGE THANK YOU to Concordia Lodge #249 for your generous donation of bikes and helmets and to Dan Fouts for presenting the bikes at our assembly. Our students worked hard in their iReady Reading. Students received one ticket for each lesson passed and tickets were entered into a raffle. Nancy & Keith (brother & sister) were so excited to win the bikes!! They rode their bikes home on Friday afternoon with huge smiles on their faces!

Over the past few weeks, Nutrition Services has partnered with the culinary arts class at West Valley HS. The students were in a contest to develop 3 plant-based recipes for West Valley Schools. Nutrition did the judging earlier this week and the three winning recipes were selected and will be served to students next week.

Orchard Center was selected to participate in a classroom competition called The Amazing Shake which is a competition that teaches 5th graders life skills of building confidence and learning the elements of a proper handshake. After careful consideration, our 3 judges: Dan Springer, MultiCare Valley Hospital Trent Maier, Trailbreaker Cider Dawn Nast, Bank of America selected the following student winners:
Dayton Wilson, Darius Daniels, Lyrik Meenk Rogers, Oliver Janke, Rylee Goff.
We are so proud of our 5th grade Cougars who showed professionalism and represented Orchard Center proudly.

The Book Giveaway is an annual event that has been going on for about 5 years now and it is held near the end of the school year. This event allows each student at Orchard Center to choose up to 5 books to take home and add to their own book collection! Each year this event is made possible because of the extremely generous donation made by Kay Brayant and her team over at the The Greater Spokane Valley Rotary Club. Once again, student’s faces were filled with excitement as they searched for their books. This year, the school was allotted enough money to bless 199 students with a total of 995 books. We would like to thank Kay so incredibly much, from the bottom of our hearts, for being there to help the students pick out a book of their interest. We are so grateful for you!

Today we had our incoming first graders for next year visit OC from Millwood Kindergarten Center! They took a tour of the school and met our first grade teachers. We look forward to seeing them in the fall!
