Milwaukee Habitat Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity transforms lives and our city by providing simple, decent and affordable housing for Milwaukee families in need.
(23)

We build and renovate homes for families and individuals in need of sustainable housing. Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity (MHFH) increases affordable homeownership and decent housing in targeted neighborhods. This contributes, in collaboration with community partners, to transformed neighborhoods as measured by economic and quality of life indicators. In addition to new home construction, MHFH offers repair of existing homes through its A Brush With Kindness program (ABWK). Lastly, MHFH is engaged in the global effort to eliminate poverty housing and sends 10% of all unrestricted gifts to international Habitat affiliates in El Salvador and Kyrgyzstan.

"I've paid over $60k in rent"

Lakeia was sick of paying tens of thousands of dollars into someone else's mortgage. So, she took matters into her own hands with a little help from Milwaukee Habitat.

Happy #GoodNewsTues!

Lakeia sees homeownership as a way to build independence for herself and her four children. For the past eight years they’d been renting a small two bedroom home and Lakeia was troubled by the lack of equity she was building by investing in someone else’s property. With help from Milwaukee Habit...

Wendy's American Dream

“{Homeownership} was part of my American Dream,” says Wendy. “The comfort, the stability, my daughter growing up in one location.”

Wendy looked on the open market for a three bedroom rental and was having a difficult time finding anything decent below $1000 per month. That’s when Wendy came to Habitat.

Three years ago, Wendy got the news none of us ever want to hear. Her mother had been diagnosed with cancer. At the time, Wendy was renting a two bedroom apartment where she had just begun a new chapter with her infant daughter, Joy. The second bedroom would have served well as a nursery, but with h...

A home cannot be considered decent or complete if there is no clean water, and that is even more true during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now more than ever, water can save lives. Read how we're building clean water stations in Zambia.
