We build and renovate homes for families and individuals in need of sustainable housing. Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity (MHFH) increases affordable homeownership and decent housing in targeted neighborhods. This contributes, in collaboration with community partners, to transformed neighborhoods as measured by economic and quality of life indicators. In addition to new home construction, MHFH offers repair of existing homes through its A Brush With Kindness program (ABWK). Lastly, MHFH is engaged in the global effort to eliminate poverty housing and sends 10% of all unrestricted gifts to international Habitat affiliates in El Salvador and Kyrgyzstan.
Mission: Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit home ownership ministry building simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need in the greater Milwaukee area.

Sharon is a Milwaukeean through-and-through, having lived in our community for more than 30 years. Because of people like you, Sharon has a safe, affordable place to call home during this pandemic. After her kids moved out, she downsized and moved into a low-income housing development. It was what she could afford at the time but, unbeknown to her, it wasn’t safe. Every time it rained, water rushed down into her kitchen. She pleaded with her landlord to fix the issue, but it was no use.
After completing hundreds of hours helping to build her home and the homes of her neighbors, Sharon stood in her living room with the keys for the first time. Sharon realized a dream she’d never thought possible. She had become a homeowner.

Even though Haynie was paying his bills on time, his landlord wasn’t. Imagine having your life turned upside down in a moment’s notice, and to no fault of your own.
In this week’s #GoodNewsTues, hear how Haynie overcame these struggles to ensure his family would never face something like this again.
