(9)

We build and renovate homes for families and individuals in need of sustainable housing. Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity (MHFH) increases affordable homeownership and decent housing in targeted neighborhods. This contributes, in collaboration with community partners, to transformed neighborhoods as measured by economic and quality of life indicators. In addition to new home construction, MHFH offers repair of existing homes through its A Brush With Kindness program (ABWK). Lastly, MHFH is engaged in the global effort to eliminate poverty housing and sends 10% of all unrestricted gifts to international Habitat affiliates in El Salvador and Kyrgyzstan.

Mission: Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit home ownership ministry building simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need in the greater Milwaukee area.

A true #FeelGoodFriday moment...we kicked off an exciting new project this week by partnering with our friends at Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity ReStore. As our President and owner Louis Weiher shares, we do our best to make sure we reuse and recycle as much as possible from each job site. It not only keeps more debris out of landfills but as Jake Brandt from Habitat explains, it can help change lives.

Thank you to our generous customer and all the hard working volunteers who helped make a big difference this week!

Episode 3 - Housing

Home ownership rates are moving in the wrong direction for Black people, showing little improvement in present-day Milwaukee compared to the 1960's.

Hosts Tarik Moody and Reggie Jackson show how the government intentionally kept Black people from buying homes and building generational wealth. Then, Tarik learns about an undercover testing program designed to sniff out housing discrimination.

Good News Tues. - August 4th - Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity

At a time when a safe, affordable home is more important than ever before, we’re working hard to help local families, like Dominque, become first-time homeowners.

After living in a low-income housing development for 13 years, Milwaukee Habitat made it affordable for Dominque to build a brand new home for her three children.

She moved in last week! In this week's #GoodNewsTues you can watch the virtual home dedication and hear what her 8 year old son, Christopher, thinks of his new home.

2020 Virtual Habitat 500: Bike @ Home - Donna Kummer

Each year, Donna Kummer rides the #Hab500 to raise much-needed funds to build safe, affordable homes in Milwaukee. Over the course of 16 rides, she's raised an amazing $90k for Habitat for Humanity! This year she's just shy of beating her total raised from last year (last year raised $13,300)!

Can you help her cross the finish line?

So much is different this year. One of the greatest annual joys of my life - participating in the week-long Habitat 500 ride - will be virtual this summer. I don't know yet how, when, or where I will log my miles. But I WILL log them. Some things are NOT different this year. Everyone should be able....

Things may look a little different on our build site nowadays, but one thing that's remained constant has been the support of Sargento Cheese. As our first corporate sponsor, they've been lending their financial and volunteer support for 28 years to build safe, affordable homes in our community!

Helping families in need of safe, affordable housing

People in our community and all over the world partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With our help, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.
