The Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council (MMFHC) is conducting outreach and education activities to raise awareness about the role of bias in home appraisals in perpetuating racial disparities in home values. They are urging home buyers to report instances of discrimination and have created educational materials to help consumers recognize signs of appraisal bias, such as undervaluing homes in neighborhoods of color compared to similar homes in white neighborhoods.

Persons who feel they may have experienced illegal housing discrimination should call 1-877-647-FAIR, a toll-free number. Callers within the 414 area code may call 414-278-1240. Information about MMFHC services and fair housing rights and responsibilities can be found at fairhousingwisconsin.com. All services to victims of illegal housing discrimination are free of charge.

Today, we're proud to share the recording of an amazing program: Revitalization Through Preservation, which took place last week with Husch Blackwell and our own director Jeremy Ebersole as part of Urban Economic Development Association of WI (UEDA)'s Emerging Topics Series.

Check it out below for an informative look at how to approach different types of preservation projects, the benefits of using historic tax credits, and an in-depth look at the incredible Save the Soldiers Home restoration project, which MPA made possible through over a decade of advocacy.

Last week, Milwaukee Preservation Alliance, Inc. joined Husch Blackwell for a Revitalization Through Preservation, a presentation hosted by Urban Economic Development Association of WI (UEDA). MPA's Executive Director, Jeremy Ebersole shared how the recently completed Soldiers Home project created affordable housing, enlivened an historic campus and honored veterans.
