ORIGINS
Milwaukee Succeeds is a collaborative effort launched in summer 2011 by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Greater Milwaukee Committee, Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, Milwaukee Urban League, United Way of Greater Milwaukee and the Helen Bader Foundation as a way to unite the community around a common goal: bringing about lasting change to the way education works for children in Milwaukee. Many other organizations have joined the collaboration; and the Northwestern Mutual Foundation, Greater Milwaukee Foundation, the United Way and the Helen Bader Foundation have provided early financial support for Milwaukee Succeeds. VISION
Success for every child, in every school, cradle to career. MISSION
Milwaukee Succeeds unites our community around a commitment to support strategies that will achieve our shared vision of success for every child, in every school, cradle to career.

The pandemic proved child care is essential. Advocates hope to leverage that lesson into more funding.

"If increased dollars flow into the child care industry, as advocates hope, and if the industry is restructured for long-term sustainability, it will be largely due to the dedication of child care advocacy partnerships."

The Early Childhood Education Civic Response Team has been a driving force in the support of Milwaukee's child care sector.

From distributing $1.1 million in grants, to advocating for long-term investment at the state level, this group of advocates is paving the way towards a child care industry that is sustainable for our community.

Child care providers received emergency grants during the pandemic. Now they're looking for ways to stabilize their businesses over the long term.
