We are thrilled to announce the winners of the 33rd Annual Mentor Awards! The Annual Mentor Awards recognizes individuals and organizations in the community dedicated to mentoring. Nominations are then judged on three criteria: mentoring of others, business leadership, and community leadership.

Our first individual recipient is Mary McCormick. Mary is described as the type of mentor who has the “multiplier effect” as she has helped so many others become mentors through her behind the scenes encouragement, sponsorship, and support.

Our second individual recipient is Ana Simpson. Ana is described as a mentor who is always a heartbeat away from bridging a connection or sharing a piece of advice that will rock your world.

This year, we are excited to have Herzing University as our corporate recipient. Herzing University is unique in that its core mission is mentoring; it is an educational organization focused on advancing individuals of all ages and backgrounds so they can be more professionally successful, more economically secure and more personally satisfied.

Thank you to those who submitted their nominations this year. Our judges had an incredible group of nominees to select from. Congratulations again to our winners and we look forward to seeing everyone on February 16 to celebrate!

On behalf of our incredible event co-chairs, Danielle Bly, Mary Jessen & Jodi Ristau, and their event committee, our TEMPO team led by Kelsiee Arreguin, and supported by Diavian Lyons & McKenna Carrigan, we are so grateful to the 1,400 who joined us at the Miller High Life Theatre for TEMPO's 17th Annual Leadership Event featuring Simone Biles!

Thank you to Shannon Sims from TMJ4 for moderating the inspiring and motivational conversation!

We were tasked with reimagining the event! We knew we needed to go big, be bold, take risks, and PIVOT even at the 11th hour! If we’ve learned anything over the last few years – it’s the ability to be resilient, to challenge the norm and to try new things. And we’ve learned to give and accept a lot of GRACE. Even when it’s ‘grace under pressure.’ We pivoted, gracefully, and changed direction to bring you Thursday night’s amazing event! Thank you for your support and for your commitment to furthering the impact of women leaders in our community.

Thank you to our many sponsors including our Presenting Sponsor, Baird, our in-kind support, our restaurant partners, and the many women-owned businesses who donated to our goodie and swag bags!

Advocate. Elevate. Accelerate.

In 1975, most women, regardless of talent, competence or position were kept outside of the city's power structure. On February 6, 1975, a handful of women set out to change the landscape for women. They gathered to participate in the first TEMPO Business and Professional Women’s Club of Milwaukee Wisconsin which has grown and evolved into what is known today as TEMPO Milwaukee. The hope of the founding members was to create a society where women hold an equal place in leadership, policy, and decision making. The organization has remained true to its foundational mission and continues to evolve as the business landscape in Milwaukee changes. TEMPO Milwaukee looks to the future as an opportunity to grow and create more awareness of the organization.

Women Who Open Doors Podcast Alert! 🚨

Who's guilty of purchasing a product based on the look of its packaging? 🙋🏻‍♀️

Well, that might have been the work of Kelley Kempel! Julie had the pleasure of sitting down with Kelley, Owner & Creative Director of Hidden Path Creative. In May of 2020, Kelley dipped her toe in the entrepreneurial water by creating Hidden Path Creative as a side hustle to help small to medium-sized businesses create packaging designs that genuinely represent their brand identity. Last year, she decided to go all-in bringing "big brand knowledge" to help lift those businesses by building meaningful customer connections through a mix of strategy, storytelling, and innovation.

In this episode, Kelley shares the importance of a brand personality, how she found community as a member of TEMPO Milwaukee, and her love of hiking (you gotta hear her amazing wedding story)!

Kelley never pictured herself as an entrepreneur. Listen below to hear her advice for those interested in taking the leap.
