Thank you to Yollande and Johnson Controls for their continued dedication to uplifting women and families in our community!

At the end of May, Yollande (left) stopped by Cathedral Center’s Emergency Shelter and met with Donna, our Executive Director, as a follow-up from all the amazing community partnership efforts from Ubuntu MKE’s Flavors of Africa and Diaspora (F**D) events earlier this year. 🎊

These events brought our community together in support of local organizations making a difference. In total, over $6,700 was raised in support of Cathedral Center and our services! 🧑

Yollande is the RVP - Central for Johnson Controls, who was a sponsor of the F**D events and helped facilitate this wonderful community impact. Their generosity is making a lasting difference in the lives of so many individuals. πŸ™Œ

Thanks again to Yollande and our partners at Johnson Controls! We look forward to deepening our relationship as we work to end homelessness, one life at a time. πŸ€πŸ’•

✨ Program Highlight: Emergency Shelter ✨

Today, we’re sharing a closer look at our Emergency Shelter program and why it matters now more than ever. πŸ’›

2025 Milwaukee Point-In-Time (PIT) Count data shows a growing need in our community. 986 individuals were identified as experiencing homelessness, with 78% staying in Emergency Shelters. That’s a 10% increase in overall homelessness and an 18% rise in shelter use compared to last year.

Behind these numbers are real people: women and families seeking safety, stability, and a chance to move forward.

🏠 In 2025, thanks to your support, we were able to provide:
- 15,232 nights of safe shelter to women and adults & children in families
- Empowering services for 195 unaccompanied women and 50 families with children
- Support that helped 84 women and 43 families with children move into safe, permanent homes

Emergency shelters are more than a place to stay, they are a starting point for healing, dignity, and hope. We are deeply grateful to our community for making this work possible. πŸ’« But as the need continues to grow, so does the urgency.

🚨 You can help. Your support ensures that women and families have a safe place to land and the resources to build a brighter future.
