Neu-Life Community Development An after school program serving Milwaukee's youth

06/12/2026

What happens when the foundation disappears?

Joann Harris-Comodore, Founder and CEO of Neu-Life, has been working with youth for over 25 years, and she’s noticed a critical pattern: young adults frequently return to Neu-Life seeking community, even after they ‘age out’ of traditional programming at 18.

As Joann beautifully notes, the transition to adulthood doesn’t happen overnight, and the need for stability doesn’t expire on an 18th birthday.

That is why we conceived NeuVue:
- The Impact: 36 workforce housing apartments (from studios to 2-bedrooms).
- The Target: Young adults ages 18–24.
- The Requirement: Being ‘on track’ whether that means working a job, attending a trade program, or finishing school.

NeuVue is a collaborative ecosystem designed to ensure Milwaukee’s young adults don’t have to navigate the complexities of early adulthood alone.

Be a part of this historic milestone for our neighborhood and our city:
📅 Groundbreaking: Tuesday, June 30th at 1:00 PM
📍 Location: 12th & Cherry St.

A successful insightful night with our Mayor ✨

United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee (UNCOM) put together an incredible event hosted by Neu-Life with Mayor Cavalier Johnson and city officials. The youth of the UNCOM family had the opportunity to voice their thoughts and opinions on important issues affecting them as teens.

Great conversation that will bring about more collaboration between the youth and our city officials. Thank you to UNCOM for a fun and engaging night and to our Mayor, Chief of Police, and the director of City of Milwaukee Office of Community Wellness and Safety for taking the time out of their busy schedules!

The youth are the future, so let’s help them build their better tomorrow TOGETHER ✨

SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS to our NewComer of the Year Award Winner at the WACYCP Awards, James Noid-binns!

James has been at Neu-Life since he was 4 years old starting at Gwen T Jackson, becoming a teen worker at YWIC and has since graduated the program becoming a Youth Worker and Lead Teacher to our youth and kids. He is the real life example of our model in best practice and we could not be more PROUD of the growth and the Youth Worker he is becoming.

Neu-Life family help us in congratulating James on this major accomplishment in his youth work journey! ✨

✨ Highlights from our Youth vs Cop Cook Off ✨

Our teen workers had an incredible event with Milwaukee Police Department - District 3 where the my had a cool off competition against our local officers. The food category? Breakfast Food 😋

Great event, with very healthy competition per usual from our teens 😅 and even more so, great dialogue and conversation about safety, comfortability around law enforcement, and real issues that plague our teens and city. Real conversations over a good meal bring about real transformative change.

Thank you MPD Distrcit 3 for a fantastic event! ✨

And oh by the way, our youth won😌 and they’re looking forward to the rematch!
