Social Studies teacher Jason Jirsa and the social studies department held a special Washburn 100 History Day on Friday so students could learn about the rich 100-year history of our school. Students walked through several classrooms and got passports stamped as they learned from exhibits of different decades at Washburn. In the library students were fascinated to discover fashions, trends, famous alumni, and world news in historical Washburn Grist newspapers and WAHIAN yearbooks.

For the past two years senior Harriet O’Brien led a project where she photographed and interviewed 20 student leaders at Washburn and created posters with quotes about Washburn that were installed in the first floor hallway today. In 2011 sixteen students were photographed, interviewed, and had their photos posted in the first floor hallway, and Harriet’s photos represent the second phase of the gallery of Washburn students. 💙🧡
