Starting in November, we will operate the Temporary Safe Outdoor Space (TSOS). We are grateful to Missoula County for its partnership and support in providing this secure, staffed place for people experiencing homelessness who are not accessing existing services or resources.

“Over the last year, we’ve gotten really good at managing scarcity,” said Jill Bonny, executive director of the Poverello Center. “Too few beds, too little housing, too few places for people to go. What I’d like to work on next is creating enough options to help people move forward instead of just moving them around.”

The closure of the 165-bed temporary Johnson Street shelter has left the Poverello Center at capacity and has strained other organizations serving people living on the street.
