Info on Cooling Centers in Mobile County.

With heat index values expected to reach 100 degrees or higher, a Heat Advisory is in effect. Residents are urged to take precautions and seek relief from the heat if needed.

These shelters are serving as cooling centers:

Waterfront Rescue Mission
279 N. Washington Ave.

McKemie Place
Call 2-1-1 for information and availability.

Date: July 27-28, 2026 (or while dangerous heat conditions persist.)
Additional dates will be added if the centers remain open.

Hours: Please contact each location or call 2-1-1 for current availability.

If you or someone you know needs a cool, safe place to escape the heat, these cooling centers are available to help.

HEAT SAFETY REMINDERS:
• Drink plenty of water.
• Stay in air-conditioned spaces or shaded areas when possible.
• Never leave children, older adults or pets unattended in a vehicle.
• Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
• Check on older adults, neighbors and others who may be more vulnerable to heat-related illness.

Today our staff gathered for another trauma informed care lunch session. Heather Fore who has worked with us for the past few months presented on the best ways for us to help you all through the tough moments.

Heather will graduate soon earning her Masters in Social Work, from the University of Alabama. It has been great having Heather serve alongside us and we know she will succeed in her future endeavors. We will keep her message of being kind to others always in our approach to service.
