Back to Basics in Monaca

A few weeks ago, our Firefighters practiced pulling hose lines and mastering hydrant hookups. Now, we’re taking it to the next level!

During this week's training, we combined those skills practicing pulling handlines and securing water sources simultaneously to ensure a faster, more efficient response.

Training today for a safer tomorrow. Together we stay ready!

The Monaca Fire Department hit the streets for some "back to basics" training. Our focus? Hitting hydrants.

While it might seem simple, every second counts during a structure fire. Ensuring our crews can establish a reliable water supply quickly and efficiently is a skill that makes a massive difference when the pressure is on.

Did you know? Our department dedicates the 2nd through the last Thursday of every month to training nights. We are committed to constant improvement so we’re always ready when our community needs us most.

The Monaca Fire Department is proud to stand alongside neighboring departments and organizations in supporting Project Zayne: Calm in Crisis, an incredible initiative focused on helping children feel safe and supported during emergency situations.

Through this program, responders are equipped with specialized kits designed to provide comfort and reassurance to children, especially those with sensory sensitivities. In moments that can feel overwhelming, these small tools can make a big difference.

We’ve seen firsthand how much this means, not just to the kids, but to their families and our responders. It’s another way we can serve our community beyond the call, with compassion and care at the forefront.

A big thank you to everyone involved in making this possible.

The members of the Monaca Fire Department are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a young child in our neighboring community of Rochester Boro following a bicycle hit-and-run incident.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and all those affected by this devastating loss. No family should ever have to endure the pain of losing a child, and our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.

We are sharing the GoFundMe established by the family to assist with funeral arrangements and other expenses as they navigate the days ahead. Any support you are able to provide, whether through a donation, sharing the fundraiser, or keeping the family in your thoughts and prayers, is greatly appreciated.

We also echo an important reminder to our community: please slow down and remain alert, especially in areas where children may be present. A moment of caution can prevent a lifetime of heartbreak.

Our neighbors need our help.

Families Matter Food Pantry (186 Wagner Road) is currently facing critically low food supplies while continuing to serve over 500 local families every WEEK.

In response, the Monaca Fire Department will be hosting an impromptu food drive this Saturday to help restock their shelves and support families right here in our community.

📅 Date: Saturday, April 11
⏰ Time: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
📍 Location: Monaca Fire Department

We will be accepting:
✅ Non-perishable food items
✅ Monetary donations

🚒 Stop by, meet your local firefighters, and check out our apparatus on display while supporting a great cause.

Every donation—big or small—makes a direct impact on families in need.

If you’re unable to attend but still want to help, please consider spreading the word.

Let’s come together as a community and make a difference.

🚒❄️ Community in Action! ❄️🚒

This year, your Monaca Fire Department members along with the City of Beaver Falls Fire Department and the Bridgewater VFD - Engine Co. 28 were proud to assist at the Beaver County Special Olympics Polar Plunge.

Our team supported the event by providing water safety coverage and standing ready to ensure all participants could take the plunge safely. Events like this highlight what makes our community special—neighbors, first responders, volunteers, and athletes all coming together for an incredible cause.

We commend every brave participant who stepped into the cold Beaver River, for Special Olympics Pennsylvania. Your energy and commitment help make a real difference in the lives of local athletes.

👏 Thank you to the Beaver County Special Olympics organizers, volunteers, and supporters who made this event a success.

💙 If you participated, volunteered, or came out to support, drop your photos or experiences in the comments—we’d love to see them!

As always, Monaca Fire Department remains committed to serving and supporting our community.
