Summer has finally arrived! We’re kicking off our summer kids programming with Lego Club and pizza, Tuesday June 16th from 4:30-6pm. Lego Club and all of our programming is free and open to kids of all ages and towns. Check out the flyer below with a list of upcoming program dates. We also are running a kids summer reading challenge, which could result in an end of summer ice cream party! See the attached flyer for those details as well.

We’re looking forward to seeing lots of returning and new faces this summer!

The Monroe Community Library will be closed Tuesday, June 9th for Maine's Election Day. The Town Hall will be open for voting from 8am-8pm. On the ballot are important local and national primary races, the RSU #3 budget, and RSU #3 school board members. Please Vote!!

Summer vacation is almost upon us! As such, we are switching to our kids summer programming schedule. We will gather every other Tuesday from 4:30-6pm, alternating Lego Club and other fun programs! This means we won’t have formal Saturday programming but we will plan to have some impromptu rainy day storytime and crafts.

We are also going to run our summer reading challenge again this year! Kids can pick up reading sheets from the library and record each book they read (or their parents read to them). For each book on their sheet they’ll earn a pom pom to be added to a large jar. If all the library kids can fill up the jar, we’ll have an end of summer pizza and ice cream party! Last year, the kids had no problem filling up the jar, so we are going a little bigger this year 🙂 We know they can do it!

We’re excited to keep reading and playing this summer, so swing on over to the library to grab some reading sheets, and join us for our first Tuesday Lego Club on June 16th! Keep your eye out on FB, Instagram, or our website (monroelibrarymaine.org) for program flyers and updates.

Our regular library hours will remain the same throughout the summer, so come grab a good book and keep reading Monroe!

What a treat it is to be part of such a hardy community! The Memorial Day parade was soggy (to say the least) but spirits were high and people turned out despite the rain! We had an incredible crew of enthusiastic library kids who were wet to the bone but cheered, laughed, and threw candy to soggy onlookers, without uttering a single complaint! Way to go kids and grownups of Monroe!

Please join us for Lego club tomorrow at 10:30am at the library. Lego Club is open to kids of all ages and towns! (See attached flyer)

Starting in June we will move to our summer schedule for Kids Programming which will meet every other Tuesday from 4:30-6pm. Stay tuned for more information about that soon!

Join us at 10:30 am at the library tomorrow for Parade storytime! We will read a few stories, then create decorations for our library float for the parade on Monday! If you would like to ride along on the library float, we will meet at 10:40 am on Monday to load up for the 11:00 am parade start. We are looking forward to a weekend of community activities!

Have you seen the Monroe Community Library 's free "Seed Library"? Stop in and take home free seeds to plant. Try a new variety this year or an old favorite. Too many veggies? Grow a Row and donate to Waldo County Bounty's Give & Take stand outside Town Hall.

Free admission to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens!

The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are free for Maine residents May 29-31. With the pass, you can visit free every day. Stop by or email to reserve our pass, good for 1-2 adults and as many as 10 children/day. The sun is coming!
