The Wellsburg Police Department is proud to announce the addition of its newest K-9 team member, Kimber, a one-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer. Kimber will serve as a single-purpose narcotics detection and tracking K-9, providing valuable support to the department's law enforcement operations and public safety mission.

Over the past four weeks, Patrolman Caleb Minger has completed extensive K-9 handler training with Kimber at Tri-State Canine. Upon successful completion of the program, the K-9 team earned certification through OPOTA, demonstrating proficiency in narcotics detection and tracking.

Kimber's addition to the Wellsburg Police Department enhances the department's ability to combat illegal narcotics activity, assist in locating missing or endangered persons, and support law enforcement operations throughout the community. The department is excited to have Kimber join its team and looks forward to the positive impact she will have in serving and protecting the citizens of Wellsburg.

The Wellsburg Police Department would also like to express its sincere appreciation to the many businesses, organizations, and community members who generously donated to help make this program possible. Your support played a vital role in bringing Kimber to our department, and we are grateful for your investment in the safety and well-being of our community.

A scam has been reported where individuals are identifying themselves as Hancock County Sheriff Deputies, making phone calls to request people to meet to pay bail or fines with either with cash or prepaid cards or bitcoin.

Please do not give these people any information or money. The Sheriff's Office would not call and inform you that you have a warrant and ask for money. Thank you
