Today, third grade welcomed guest reader Mrs. Freitag to kick off our author study of Patricia Polacco! 📚 Mrs. Freitag is no stranger to Patricia Polacco—she is a big fan of her stories and was excited to share her love of Polacco’s books with our class! We’re so thankful she came to read with us and help us begin this special author study! 💛

We kicked things off with Thank You, Mr. Falker, a story about a young Patricia who struggled with reading when she was younger. It’s a story of perseverance and how, with the help of a special teacher, she learned that she could succeed.

🎉 WELCOME BACK, FAMILIES! 🎉

Monday, August 24th is the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

As we kick off the 2026–2027 school year, here are 4 simple ways families can help start the year on a positive note and set students up for success.

⭐ 1. Start the Night Before

Help your student get a good night's sleep and prepare everything they need before bedtime. A calm morning makes for a much better day!

🎒 Backpack ready
👟 Clothes picked out
⏰ Alarm set

⏰ 2. Establish a Routine

Consistent bedtimes, morning routines, homework times, and screen-time expectations help students know what to expect and make the school year run more smoothly.

💬 3. Encourage Communication

Remind your student that it is okay to ask questions, make mistakes, and ask for help. Encourage them to communicate with their teachers when they need support. Mistakes are part of learning!

❤️ 4. Celebrate Effort, Not Just Results

A successful school year isn't about being perfect. Celebrate your child's effort, growth, kindness, perseverance, and progress along the way.

🌟 LET'S MAKE IT A GREAT YEAR!

This week, we welcomed our new kindergarten friends for a fantastic three-day Kindergarten Round-Up! It was a wonderful introduction to kindergarten.

Our little learners engaged in exciting hands-on activities, learned the classroom rules, and got comfortable in their new surroundings. Their enthusiasm was contagious!

A special highlight was our field trip, where the children learned important bus safety rules. They even enjoyed a sweet treat to celebrate their hard work! 🍦

We can’t wait to see their smiles on the first day of school. Welcome to kindergarten, everyone! ✏️
