Today the week of National EMS recognition starts, I want to take this opportunity to THANK MY WONDERFUL STAFF For all your hard work and dedication. Every one of you get up each morning and do a job most people do not want to do, you work long hours for little pay, you see, smells, and hear things most people do not want to.
To the folks in our community Tri-Village Rescue responded to 610 calls for service last year, we transported 523 people to the hospital, we were able to treat the rest on the scene without transporting them. The EMS staff here at TVRS is some of the lowest paid in the area and yet they come to work and do a great job, we are a rural department we respond with 2 providers, and we work our butts off to insure we give the greatest care we can. We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from the community.
The other thing I would like to remind you in the community about is that EMS is not an essential service in the State of Ohio. The county is responsible to insuring law enforcement, and the townships are responsible for fire protection is EMS in not required and we do not get the grants opportunities that other public safety agencies get. During the COVID pandemic we did not get the grant funding that other agencies received, we did get some equipment from the village of Palestine with their grant monies, and we were very thankful for that.
I ask if you meet with any of your State Legislators please remind them that we need to be made essential, I have met with many legislators, and we have asked them to help us in the fight for legislation making us essential and they have not done anything to help us.
Please visit our new web page and leave us your thoughts https://www.tri-villagerescueservices.org/.
