On August 26, 2026, Kari Godchaux, CPC Brownfield Program Director was invited to present at the EPA Region 6 Brownfield Conference in Dallas. In her presentation she focused on the recently completed Naval Support Activity Complex (NSA) environmental remediation for building 602, funded by the awarded $2M EPA Brownfield Clean-Up Grant, and completed 1.5 years ahead of schedule. She also gave brief updates on the completed Municipal Auditorium Ph. II Environmental Site Assessment and additional $250k in funding for roof remediation funded through a contract between CPC Brownfields Program and LDEQ; as well as the completed Ph. II on the Criminal Court Complex and awarded $2.5M for remediation through the CIP program and funded through bonds. To add to the presentation, she was joined by Brian Gibbs, President of Gibbs Development to give an update on the renovation of the NSA currently taking place to allow for 249 affordable residential units, a retail bottom floor and New Lab innovation hub. She received a shout out from EPA Administration and her project officer Mike Kennedy (pictured alongside her) and will receive a visit from the Division Director of the EPA Eunice Varughese on September 23, who will be touring the NSA site firsthand.
