For the past year, Adara has worked in a number of capacities with UNITY’s Avodah Volunteer Program and has been a shining star in each and every one of them. I think that their most awe-inspiring role has been the one in which she serves as a support and advocate for persons with lived experience that serve on the People’s Council. Adara has not only attended, but has also helped to facilitate those extremely important meetings. Adara has approached each meeting and client with so much sensitivity, patience, and compassion and it’s quite apparent with the way that the clients gravitate to their gentle demeanor. Adara will thrive wherever they settles permanently for employment and we are certain that they will continue to enrich the lives of the persons that they serves!

Kechelle’s work in Rapid Rehousing goes far beyond job duties. She is someone who shows us what true advocacy looks like in action. From the very beginning, she has understood that housing work is relationship work. She builds real meaningful relationships with the families we serve, the landlords, the staff, and with every community partner who helps us move this mission forward. She guides families from homelessness with compassion and patience, walking with them step by step. When it comes to being resourceful, she is unstoppable. She taps into every program, every partnership, every creative solution she can find. If there’s a way to help a family succeed, she will find it. Kechelle has shown us that when you lead with heart, families don’t just find housing, they find a little bit of HOPE.

His genuine empathy and client-centered approach have enabled him to build meaningful relationships founded on trust, respect, and understanding. As a Case Manager for the CITY ARPA RRH project, Demetrius is always working to ensure that the participants on her caseload have what they need. She consistently addresses issues quickly and is not afraid to ask for guidance when she is unsure about the best course of action for a particular situation. Even when a situation becomes challenging, she always meets the issue head on with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She is a strong advocate her clients and diligently works with landlords to quickly resolve repairs and other situations as they arise.

This year's Continuum of Care (CoC) Competition has generated an unprecedented level of interest and participation from our community. The strong response reflects our collective commitment to expanding and strengthening the homeless response system across the Continuum of Care. To ensure every application receives the careful, objective, and comprehensive review it deserves, the local competition schedule has been adjusted to provide the Project Selection and Evaluation Committee with additional time to evaluate proposals.

William Costelloe is being selected as the Case Mnager of the Month for his exceptional work ethic and engagement strategies. William is a Rapid Rehousing Case Manager for Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority and has done an amazing job supporting the clients in locating housing in a relatively short period of time, linking the clients to community resources and assessing each client’s needs so that if they don’t stabilize in a short time period then he is proactive in working on alternate longer-term housing programs. William is so thorough, meticulous and detail oriented in what he submits to the Coordinated Entry team and makes sure that no one slips through the cracks. He is an asset to our homeless services community.

Sometimes it’s not about the number of people that you serve, but the quality of service that you give to the people. Fortunately, Teala Fugitt, whom is a Case Management Supervisor for Traveler’s Aid Frontlines Outreach Program has demonstrated both of these qualities in an extraordinary manner. Teala is boots on the ground every single day and has acted as a liaison for so many people who would have slipped through the cracks had it not been for her dedication, persistence and compassion. On so many occasions, Teala has voluntarily accepted the responsibility of navigating the most challenging and disabled persons in our community just because she simply knew that there was no one else to do it. In one recent instance, had Teala not intervened then I am relatively sure that it would have resulted in the client's death, because of how compromised his health was. Teala's advocacy and level of compassion is inspiring.
