OPSB Approves and Executes Naming Rights Agreements for 9th Ward Stadium

On June 6, 2026, the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) approved and executed two License and Naming Agreements with Raising Cane’s Restaurants, LLC and LCMC Health. The agreements officially designate the name of the venue as Raising Cane’s 9th Ward Stadium at LCMC Health Field, representing a major milestone in the development of this transformative community athletic facility in New Orleans’ Upper Ninth Ward.

These agreements were authorized under the Third Amended and Restated Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) approved by the OPSB on January 26, 2026, which granted 9th Ward Stadium, Inc. the ability to pursue naming rights and sponsorships, subject to final OPSB approval, to support the project’s long-term sustainability.

As part of the agreements, Raising Cane’s has committed $2 million and LCMC Health has committed $600,000 toward the project in exchange for their respective naming rights. These substantial private investments further secure the future of the stadium while aligning with its public purpose of serving NOLA Public Schools students and the broader community.

“The Orleans Parish School Board is proud to approve and execute these historic naming rights agreements,” said Leila Jacobs Eames, President of the Orleans Parish School Board. “Raising Cane’s and LCMC Health are investing not only in a world-class athletic facility, but in the health, education, and future success of our students and the Ninth Ward community. This partnership reflects the shared values of youth development, neighborhood pride, and post-Katrina revitalization that define our district’s mission.”

The multi-use stadium, located at 4300 Almonaster Boulevard adjacent to George Washington Carver High School, will serve as the anchor home for Carver High School’s Rams and will be available to all Orleans Parish public schools. It will feature an artificial turf field known as LCMC Health Field, grandstand seating for approximately 3,700 spectators, a press box, scoreboard, locker rooms, concessions, restrooms, parking, and landscaped grass berms. The facility will host high school football, soccer, graduations, concerts, festivals, and other community events.

TKTMJ Inc. has been selected as the general contractor, with the stadium operator still to be determined. Construction is scheduled to begin in late June 2026, with the stadium expected to open in late summer 2027.

Full funding for the stadium has now been secured through state capital outlay, federal earmarks, municipal contributions, voter-approved bonds, and these landmark private commitments. 9th Ward Stadium, Inc. continues to raise additional funds for future phases, including an adjacent track and field complex.

“Access to high-quality athletic facilities plays a vital role in student engagement, physical health, school pride, and community connection,” added OPSB President Eames. “By finalizing these naming rights agreements today, we are ensuring that Raising Cane’s 9th Ward Stadium at LCMC Health Field becomes a sustainable, first-class resource for our students and residents for generations to come. We extend our deepest gratitude to Raising Cane’s, LCMC Health, 9th Ward Stadium, Inc., and all partners who have made this vision a reality.”

It was truly an honor to be selected as the 2026 Guest Speaker for the Edward Hynes-Parkview 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony.
Coach Kay’s introduction brought tears to my eyes. To be recognized and celebrated in the very community where I serve is incredibly meaningful. It is a true testament to the dedication, passion, and commitment I pour into my work as a police officer every day.
For me, it’s never been about titles or recognition. It’s about making a difference, building relationships, and leaving behind a legacy that inspires others.

We were honored to join community leaders, elected officials, and nonprofit partners at the SERVING WITH LOVE® Tour event in New Orleans.

Through a partnership between Feed the Children, Second Harvest Food Bank, and the Popeyes Foundation, more than $125,000 worth of food, personal care items, and essential household supplies were distributed to 400 local families experiencing food insecurity.

This stop was part of the national SERVING WITH LOVE® Tour, a 15-city campaign providing 250,000 meals to 12,000 families across the country throughout the spring and summer to help combat childhood and family hunger.

Events like these remind us of the power of community partnerships and the importance of supporting families beyond the classroom. We are grateful to the organizations, volunteers, and community leaders who are helping ensure families have access to the resources they need to thrive.

We were excited to welcome the newest Teach For America corps members to New Orleans as they begin their summer training and prepare to serve students across our schools.

Dr. Fateama Fulmore had the opportunity to greet the incoming educators and share words of encouragement as they embark on this important journey. Teaching is both a tremendous responsibility and a remarkable opportunity to make a lasting impact on students, families, and communities.

This work takes a network of dedicated partners working together to support student success, and our presence at this event was a reflection of that shared commitment. We are grateful for our continued partnership with Teach For America and look forward to collaborating throughout the year to support educators and create opportunities for students across New Orleans.

Welcome to the city, and thank you for choosing to invest in the future of our students.

At the June 2026 Board Business Meeting, we proudly recognized exceptional students with our Portrait of a Graduate Awards.

The NOLA Public Schools Portrait of a Graduate serves as our North Star, defining the skills, mindsets, and qualities every student needs to succeed in college, careers, and life. It challenges students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, resilient leaders, culturally competent citizens, and compassionate contributors to their communities.

These honorees exemplified that vision. Through their academic achievements, leadership, character, and service to others, they represent the very best of NOLA Public Schools and the bright future of New Orleans.

Congratulations to our award recipients, and thank you to the families, educators, and school leaders whose support has helped these students thrive. We look forward to seeing all they accomplish in the years ahead.
