The Trump administration has called on Congress to act, following nearly 2 years of organizing, advocacy, and lobbying on Capitol Hill by IATSE, other unions and guilds, studios, vendors, film commissioners, industry organizations, and elected reps on both sides of the aisle.
Whatever your politics, this is one issue where both sides are working toward the same goal, to bring film jobs back to the U.S.
We are hearing that legislation could potentially get passed by the end of the year if there is enough support.
After three years of uncertainty and lost work, we know it can be hard to believe change could be coming. But this is real progress, and now it's time to push hard and build on it. We need your help to make this happen.
A Louisiana letter is now circulating, urging our members of Congress to prioritize passing a federal film incentive ASAP. Letters for other states across our jurisdiction and the US will be following, in a strategic rollout by the commission to call Congress to action.
We need as many signatures as possible.
Please SIGN and SHARE it with fellow crew members, vendors, friends, family, local businesses, crew who have worked here, and anyone who understands what the loss of film production has meant to Louisiana.
We have spent three years watching work leave the country. This is an opportunity to fight to bring some of it back.
