If you’re traveling or commuting this afternoon, be prepared.
NYC Emergency Management has issued a Weather Alert and activated the City's Flash Flood Emergency Plan.
Knowing when the heaviest rain arrives means you can leave earlier, avoid flooded streets and stations, and move to a higher floor before water reaches a basement unit.
🔴Locally heavy downpours are expected between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. today.
🔴The heaviest rain will fall from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
🔴A Flood Watch is in effect until 2 a.m.
Heavy rain may cause flooding of roadways and streets. Expect travel impacts during inclement weather.
🚫Never walk, bike, or drive through floodwaters. Use public transportation when possible; however, do not enter flooded subway stations.
Basement flooding can happen quickly and be life-threatening. Move to a higher floor if needed and stay out of flooded basements.
