At the Tamil Nadu Learning Exchange 2026, partners exchanged experiences, challenges, and practical solutions for strengthening women-led enterprises.

From peer learning that sparked new ideas to women growing from participants into trainers and leaders, here are 5 takeaways we’re carrying forward from the exchange. ✨

Two days of learning, sharing, and putting ideas into practice. 🌱

The Tamil Nadu Learning Exchange brought grassroots partners together to share their experiences across agro-business, Self-Help Groups, financial models, textiles, and value-added production, and to learn from regional experts about sustainable social enterprises, market access, and CSR readiness.

The exchange concluded with the Women Create Fair, where partners showcased their handcrafted and agro-based products and connected with members of Madurai’s civil society.
A fitting close to an exchange centered on strengthening women-led enterprises through shared knowledge, stronger networks, and new pathways to market. ✨

When grassroots women leaders come together, knowledge grows and so does impact. 🌱✨

We’re excited to kick off the Tamil Nadu Learning Exchange 2026, bringing together grassroots organizations to share experiences, practical solutions, and innovative approaches that are helping women build stronger, more sustainable livelihoods.

Over the coming days, participants will learn from one another through peer-to-peer exchanges on topics including:
🌾 Sustainable livelihoods & social enterprises
💰 Financial literacy & SHG management
🤝 Market access & collective branding
🧵 Value-added production, tailoring, livestock, agro-products, and more

Together, we’ll explore what works, reflect on challenges, and strengthen the knowledge, skills, and partnerships that help women-led enterprises thrive.

At Women First International Fund, we believe that investing in learning, collaboration, and grassroots leadership creates lasting change, not just for individual organizations, but for entire communities.

The numbers tell a story. The women behind them tell an even bigger one.

Over the past 3 years, we’ve partnered with grassroots women leaders to turn opportunity into lasting economic change.

Together, we’ve achieved:

✨ 1,035 new businesses launched
💼 23,379 women strengthened their business skills
📈 10,874 women increased their monthly income (up to 49%)
🤝 48,911 women directly supported
🌍 499,630 community members reached

Every number represents a woman building a business, supporting her family, and strengthening her community.

At , Women First had the opportunity to deliver an oral statement alongside activists from around the world. Our message was simple: economic empowerment isn’t separate from justice. It’s essential to it.

We see this every day. When women have access to income, assets, and financial stability, they are far more able to claim their rights and seek justice. But too many women are still locked out of economic systems, and in turn, out of justice itself.

If we’re serious about access to justice, we need to connect the dots:

→ invest in women’s economic power
→ link livelihoods with legal and protection services
→ fund grassroots, women-led organizations for the long term

Because without financial independence, rights on paper don’t go very far.

Grateful to be in community with so many pushing this forward.
