Church Community Housing Corporation (CCHC) provides residents of Newport County with a variety of affordable housing opportunities, as well as home rehabilitation programs and promoting economic growth, employment, and sustainable development in the community. CCHC, a non-profit organization, began in 1969 when local citizens met to address the lack of decent, affordable housing in Newport County
. In the 45 years since then, CCHC developed over 900 homes, rehabilitated another 1,500 and has integrated neighborhood revitalization, energy efficiency and ecologically conscious building materials into our development plans. CCHC strives to create homes that meet the particular needs of Newport County citizens, including housing for the homeless, families, persons with disabilities, local artists, and senior housing. Moreover, CCHC works to create opportunities through its land trust, rental, and home repair programs. Through its land trust program, CCHC promotes home ownership through programs including home buyer training and down payment assistance. CCHC’s home repair loan program provides low interest financing for homeowners to improve their homes. Through the rental program, CCHC provides family housing, special needs housing, and senior housing. Additionally, CCHC provides safe and affordable emergency and transitional housing for the homeless.
