department allows for comments to be posted by the public and that feature cannot be turned off, the Administrative Services supervisor reserves the right to edit or remove content based on the criteria listed below. The City’s intent is not to create a public forum, but to maintain a moderated online discussion directly relating to topics posted by the City that is appropriate for citizens that are over age 13 to read.

• Comments not topically related to the particular article being commented upon;
• Profane language or content;
• Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation;
• Sexual content or links to sexual content;
• Solicitations of commerce;
• Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity;
• Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems; or
• Content that violates a copyright, trademark or other legal ownership interest of any other party’
• Disparaging personal remarks or acrimony towards another person
• Campaign information from a candidate for elected office or information related to a candidate’s personal campaign

Congratulations to all our Police Explorer Cadets! On Thursday night we hosted a graduation for our Police Explorers class of 2026! They attended over 15 classes and community service events between October 2025 and May 2026. Awards were given out for exemplary leadership, most tactical, and top shot! **Road Closure**

On 6/6/26, Ocean Ave will be closed between Carroll Ave and Harrison Ave for Bike Newport’s Elliot’s Ride for Everyone. The road will be closed starting at 9:00 a.m. and is expected to be open by noontime.

Elliot’s Ride for Everyone honors the life and passion of Dr. Elliot Kaminitz, a much-loved community member who lost his life while riding his bicycle on Memorial Boulevard on June 20, 2012

☀️ Summer Fun ☀️

We will be partnering with CRU Cafe Newport and collecting items for kids to use over the summer; outdoor games, sports equipment, children’s books or coloring books, beach toys, and arts and crafts. Please drop off your donation to the Newport Police Department or Cru Cafe by June 18th. All donations will be given to the children in the Newport community.
