State Senator Julie Morrison is hosting a Sweet Dreams Collection Drive to bring a little comfort and joy to children served by CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children).

The drive is collecting new pajamas and new bedtime books for children from newborns through age 12. Many of the children served by CASA are living in foster homes or working toward stability with their biological families. During these challenging times, something as simple as a new pair of pajamas and a bedtime story can provide comfort, a sense of security, and a special moment of joy.

Donations can be dropped off at Senator Morrison’s district office:
400 Lake Cook Rd., Suite 100B, Deerfield
Office Hours for Donations:
• Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays: 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
• Thursdays: 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
• Fridays: 10:30 a.m.–4 p.m.

The City of North Chicago is invited to participate in SWALCO’s Reuse-O-Rama, hosted by the Village of Riverwoods and the Riverwoods Preservation Council. This recycling event takes place THIS SATURDAY, September 26, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Riverwoods Village Hall (300 Portwine Road, Riverwoods, IL 60015). Collected items will be reused, recycled, and donated. Pop your trunk open--we'll grab, and you can go! This is a free event for household items only--no businesses. Thank You, SWALCO and the Village of Riverwoods, for informing North Chicago about this recycling opportunity!

We want to gather community input to assist us in developing the City’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). This is a come and go Open House format...so please stop by to share your thoughts and ideas anytime between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

A UDO brings zoning, development, subdivision, and other land-use regulations together into one coordinated set of rules that helps guide how property can be used and developed.

We want to hear from you! Join us to share your ideas about:
o Community priorities
o Development issues and opportunities
o Land use and growth
o The future of North Chicago
