Vote for your values. Vote Our Town First on November 3rd. 🇺🇸🗳️

Over the past few months, we’ve had the privilege of speaking with many of our Andover neighbors while campaigning for Township Committee. Some want to chat about what’s going on in town today, while others ask about our ideas for the future. And some simply start with, “what are you?”, wanting to know about our political affiliations.

We are candidates who have always voted based on policy, not party. So when the question is posed, we sometimes forget that political affiliation matters to many people. If your values align with one side or the other, we completely respect that.

We also believe that, in local politics, the decisions made affect us all more intimately. Many issues don't depend on whether you're red or blue. They're a shared, collective effort: about our quality of life, our safety, our home values, our roads, and our rural character and environment.

So, though the process requires us to list a party affiliation for the ballot, we hope you'll ask us what we think is important for our community and how we can make it a bit better during our time of service. If our answers align with your values, consider us aligned with you.

Happy Women’s Equality Day, Sussex County! Today, we celebrate the certification of the 19th Amendment, which secured women’s constitutional right to vote. We honor the courageous suffragists who fought tirelessly for a seat at the table, as well as the generations of extraordinary women who have shaped, strengthened, and led our nation and our local communities ever since.

As a woman running to serve as your next Sussex County Clerk, this day holds deep personal meaning for me. The right to vote is the bedrock of our democracy, but securing that right was only the beginning. Preserving it every single day requires transparent, accessible, and diligent election administration.

As your County Clerk, I will work tirelessly to protect that sacred trust by focusing on three key priorities:

🗳️Protecting Ballot Access: Ensuring every eligible voter in Sussex County has clear, reliable, and secure access to cast their ballot, whether voting by mail, early in-person, or at the polls on Election Day.

🗳️Ensuring Integrity & Transparency: Running our elections with complete independence, strict accuracy, and smooth efficiency so you can always have total confidence in the results.

🗳️Empowering Our Community: Expanding civic outreach to educate, inspire, and register voters, especially young citizens, continuing the legacy of those who fought so hard to give us a voice.

Democracy works best when every voice is heard. Today, let’s honor the trailblazers who paved the way by recommitting ourselves to protecting the vote for every single resident of Sussex County. 🇺🇸

I just spoke to 130+ volunteers who are fired up to elect Rebecca Bennett for Congress in NJ-7! This group of volunteers has stepped up to help me through some of the toughest races, and I know they'll do the same for Rebecca in November. Now let's get to work and win this race for all of us!

Let’s break the status quo this November! 🇺🇸🗳️🙌

No Democrat has been elected to the Hampton Township Committee in at least 30 years. I want to break that status quo, because Hampton needs a different point of view – especially when it comes to growth. Case in point: a chain gas station and convenience store built within seven minutes of two others — one from the same company — with little thought to scale, character, or habitat. That's not planning; that's approving whatever comes along. Development should discover what Hampton needs before asking where to build.

Elected officials, at every level, should be working to serve their constituents — not themselves or special interests.

Elected officials are expected to serve the residents they represent, protect their best interests, and uphold their right to ask questions. Despite this, at Andover Township meetings, and now online, residents are more often met with disrespect, evasion or silence from the governing body.

This Thursday, at the last Town Committee meeting, our neighbors experienced behavior that fell far short of the professionalism and respect we should all expect from our representatives.

Prior to the meeting, Lauren, a 6-year resident and young mother who cares deeply about the town her child will grow up in, questioned the efficacy of PILOT programs on the Nextdoor app. Mayor Tom Walsh decided that he needed to weigh in. He did not offer an explanation of PILOT programs or help constituents understand his point of view. Instead, his response was, “Lauren, it does help taxpayers! Maybe not people like you who rent.” (He told another neighbor opposed to PILOTs that his “talent for misinformation is second to none.”)

Even more troubling, when Lauren asked Tom how he knows about her housing status, his response was, “That’s for me to know. I know.” Then, after a whisper to him from town attorney Mr. Semrau, Tom clarified that he didn’t obtain this information through his position in public office. (Interesting that he needed to clarify that - for legal reasons?)

When Lauren asked if he looked her up online, Tom said he doesn’t even know how to use a computer (a troubling admission from a Mayor in 2026). So, if Tom didn’t use his office and can’t use a computer, how does he know Lauren rents? Why did he need to indicate that he knows where she lives?

Our Town First - Cynthia Chase & Nicole Guerrieri - wants better and we commit to an environment of transparent, and respectful communication with our neighbors. We recognize that opposing views build a better community. We may not all agree on every issue, but we promise to act with integrity and treat the people we serve with dignity.
