Breast cancer has impacted countless families, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. This October, the Northville Township Firefighters IAFF Local 3961 and Northville Township Firefighters Charity Fund are proud to continue raising awareness and showing support for those affected by breast cancer.

Last week, the Northville Township Firefighters Charity Fund was proud to present a $5,000 donation to New Hope Center for Grief Support. Located in downtown Northville, New Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides free grief support and education for children and adults who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

Our donation helped support their annual Kid’s Grief Camp for children ages 4 through 14. The camp gives kids a safe space to connect with others who understand what they’re going through, learn about grief, build healthy coping skills, and realize they’re not alone. Thanks to strong community support, the program is offered at no cost to families.

Each year, our members look forward to being part of the camp, running one of the activity stations, and spending time with the kids. It’s a small way we can show up for a program that truly makes a difference.

The Northville Township Firefighters Charity Fund is proud to announce our newest partnership with Make-A-Wish Michigan!

Our members recently had the privilege of attending the first of what we hope will be many events with Make-A-Wish Michigan. We were honored to meet Ethan, a local kid with a passion for cooking. The Culinary Arts program at Schoolcraft College gave Ethan an unforgettable hands-on cooking experience. They taught him how to prepare one of his favorite meals, Beef Wellington. One of the highlights of the evening was a live cooking demonstration, where his favorite meal was prepared for the entire audience.

We are looking forward to the day that Ethan’s cooking themed wish becomes a reality!

Moments like these are only possible because of the incredible generosity, dedication, and teamwork of so many people. From sponsors and donors to volunteers and the amazing staff at Make-A-Wish Michigan, every wish is made possible by a community coming together to create unforgettable experiences for children and their families.

In Michigan alone, an estimated 800 children will be newly diagnosed with a critical illness this year. Thanks to the support of generous donors and volunteers, Make-A-Wish Michigan has granted more than 12,500 wishes and is working toward granting 500 wishes just in 2026. With the average wish costing approximately $12,000 and a dedicated network of more than 850 active volunteers, their impact on children and families across our state is truly remarkable.

The Northville Township Firefighters Charity Fund was proud to attend the 3rd Annual Hakkers Open Charity Golf Outing this past weekend in St. Clair Shores. Organized by the family of L3961’s newest member, Brendon Pochmara, this outing brings the community together in support of a great cause. We are grateful to support an outing where 100% of the proceeds are donated to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

For those that don’t know, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation honors the legacy of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller, who gave his life on September 11, 2001. The foundation supports fallen first responder and military families, injured veterans, and homeless veterans through mortgage-free homes, smart homes, and other life-changing assistance. The Northville Township Firefighters Charity Fund was proud to support six NTFD members who took on the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb today at Ford Field.

This climb is more than a challenge, it’s a powerful stand for everyone who struggles to breathe. Every step supports lung‑health research, clean‑air advocacy, and families fighting asthma, COPD, lung cancer, and other diseases.

Our firefighters showed up with heart and purpose, climbing for those who can’t and representing our community with pride.

So proud of this team and the impact behind every step they took today! 🌬️💙🚒🔥💪🏽
