If you receive an unexpected visit from someone claiming to be an employee of the Village who wants to enter your home, ask to see their official identification. The official ID card features the employee's photo, name and the Village logo on the front. Use the same procedure if someone claiming to be an employee of a utility company, such as Nicor or ComEd, wants to come in your home - ask to see an official ID. If in doubt, call the Oak Park Police Department non-emergency number, 708.386.3800. If you feel threatened, call 911.

Seniors 65 years old and older and persons with disabilities can apply for reduced-rate public transit fare cards weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Oak Park Township office located at 105 S. Oak Park Ave. The cards offer half-price rides on public transportation. Identification is required to apply.

Please be careful in this wintry weather! Did you know that the Township loans donated medical equipment such as wheelchairs, crutches, canes, walkers, bedside commodes and shower chairs free of charge for as long as the equipment is needed? We also welcome donations of clean, gently used medical equipment. Please note that we are unable to accept large items such as beds or furniture.

Here's Eli, our maintenance staff member, along with some equipment. Please call 708-383-8005 for availability of specific items, to place a request, or to schedule a donation. You can also use the "Contact Us" form on our website.

🚐We value our partnership with Beyond Hunger!

On Fridays this month, we continue our meal pick-up service for residents ages 60+ and adults with disabilities. The suggested donation is $1.50 per meal, and COVID-19 precautions are followed. For more information, please call Senior Services at 708-383-8060, email [email protected] or stop by the 130 S. Avenue parking lot on Fridays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

We just couldn't do what we do without our Community Partners. Thanks to the Oak Park and River Forest Townships Senior Services, and their awesome crew of drivers, for helping us bring groceries to our Home Delivery program participants every month!

Spots are still available for next Tuesday's vaccine clinic at River Forest District 90 Schools. These clinics are in partnership with the IDPH and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA). There will be first, second, and booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine with Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson vaccines available for all eligible individuals in the D90 school community, including students, families, and community members. The clinic will also offer the recently approved Pfizer booster for 12–15-year-old students who had their last vaccine dose more than five months ago. The vaccines are free regardless of insurance coverage, immigration status, or documented status. Please note that any individual under the age of 18 receiving a vaccine or booster dose will need a completed parental consent form and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What is abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation? - Protection & Advocacy

Through the Adult Protective Services Program (APS), Oak Park Township Senior Services helps prevent abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation of older adults in our community aged 60 and over as well as people aged 18 to 59 with a disability.

Township staff assist with the reporting and prevention of abuse, and calls are kept confidential. Please call Oak Park Township's Protective Services at 708-383-8060 weekdays, or contact the Statewide Elder Abuse Hotline 24 hours a day at 866-800-1409. For details on obtaining vaccines and other guidance, please visit the Village of Oak Park, Illinois's dedicated webpage at https://www.oak-park.us/village-services/health-department/covid-19-vaccination-information. A vaccine clinic will be on Thursday, January 20th from 3pm to 7pm at Euclid Avenue Methodist Church, 405 Euclid Avenue.

Our Story
