Abate Weber Chapter The purpose of ABATE (American Bikers Aiming Towards Education) is to preserve the individual rights and freedoms of the road.

The purpose of ABATE (American Bikers Aiming Towards Education) AKA (A Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education) formerly (A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments) is to preserve the individual rights and freedoms of the road; to unit motorcyclists and motorcycle rights supporters in a brotherhood; to promote fair legislation, safety and rider education; and to provide a network for communication

on issues affecting motorcyclists. Originally called the NCCA (National Custom Cycle Association), the organization was forced to change its name due to similarities the acronym had to other Federal organizations. After much deliberation and considerable thought, the organization came up with a name that was both an acronym, and a single word describing the organizations purpose. The single word name is ABATE, which means "to put an end to; to reduce in degree or intensity; to beat down; to decrease in force or intensity" and the acronym stands for "A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian (strict control by coercive measures; completely regulated by the state) Enactments (to pass into law)". Later, in order to make the name seem less intimidating, the acronym was changed to "A Brotherhood (or American Bikers) Aiming Towards Education".
