🌧️⚠️ **Do you know what to do when a Flash Flood Warning is issued?**

Flash floods can develop within minutes. Take the warning seriously and act immediately:

⬆️ Move to higher ground now.
🚫 Stay away from flooded roads, washes, waterways, drainage channels, culverts, and low-lying areas.
🚗 Never drive, walk, or bike through floodwater. **Turn Around, Don’t Drown.**
📱 Monitor official alerts and remain on higher ground until authorities say it is safe.

Floodwater may be deeper and moving faster than it appears. It can also hide washed-out roads and other dangerous hazards.

**When in doubt, stay out of floodwater.**

⚠️ FREE MERCURY DROP-OFF EVENT ⚠️

Do you have an old mercury thermometer, thermostat, or small container of liquid mercury? Safely dispose of household mercury items at one of these free collection events:

📅 Saturday, September 12
⏰ 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
📍 Weber County Landfill Transfer Station
867 W. Wilson Lane, West Haven

OR

📅 Saturday, September 19
⏰ 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
📍 Salt Lake Valley Solid Waste Facility
6030 California Avenue, Salt Lake City

These will be drive-through events. Please remain in your vehicle until event staff approach you.

Free 5-gallon transport buckets are available before the events at the Weber-Morgan Health Department, 477 23rd Street in Ogden, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Place mercury-containing items inside the bucket with cushioning and absorbent material, such as bubble wrap and cat litter, and securely fasten the lid before transporting it.

Only household mercury items that fit inside the provided bucket will be accepted. Industrial or commercial quantities, unknown chemicals, radioactive materials, and explosives will not be accepted.
