Today, we proudly recognize the fathers who answer the call, both at home and in our community.

Whether they're responding to emergencies, providing lifesaving care, or protecting our city, the fathers of Old Town Fire Rescue demonstrate dedication, strength, and compassion every day. Their commitment doesn't end when the shift does; they return home to be role models, coaches, teachers, and heroes to their families.

The fire service is built on family, and we are grateful for the sacrifices made not only by our firefighter fathers but also by the loved ones who support them.

To all the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, and father figures in our department and throughout our community, thank you for your service, leadership, and unwavering dedication.

Whether he’s keeping the crew laughing around the station or convincing someone to “just try a bite” of whatever mystery creation he brought for lunch, Lieutenant Levasseur always keeps things interesting! Known for his fun-hearted personality and legendary sense of humor, you can usually count on him for a good laugh… and maybe a little harmless fib to get you to sample his latest culinary experiment. 🍽️😂

Our members recently participated in annual Swift Water Rescue training to ensure we remain proficient and prepared for emergencies involving moving water. These skills are perishable and require regular practice to maintain the highest level of safety and effectiveness for both our rescuers and the citizens we serve.

This year, we were fortunate to utilize the area around Gilman Falls on the Stillwater River as a realistic training environment. The natural currents, river features, and challenging conditions provided an excellent opportunity for our personnel to practice rescue techniques, victim retrieval, rope operations, and teamwork in a controlled setting.

Maine's rivers and waterways are a valuable resource for recreation, but they can also present significant hazards. By training in realistic conditions each year, we ensure our members are prepared to respond when seconds count.
