After 80 years, we hold steadfast to our role as a unique community resource. We offer direct services through programming and advocacy in Nebraska. The Urban League currently operates and serves residents within the tri-county area. We are one of more than 100 affiliates in 34 states of the National Urban league movement.

On Wednesday, September 23rd, the Urban League of Nebraska is hosting our Working Wednesday Career Fair, right here at 3040 Lake St., from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Employers from across the Omaha metro will be here, ready to talk with you about real openings in healthcare, government, business, and more. Bring your questions, bring your goals, and bring a resume if you have one. If you don't have one polished yet, come anyway. Our team can help you put your best foot forward once you're in the room.

Real interviews. Real interviewers. Real job offers on the table.

On Tuesday, September 22nd from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Urban League of Nebraska is hosting a Mock Interview session that has led to actual employment offers for participants who showed up ready.

Here's how it works. Each interviewer or interviewer group gets their own private room, and every interviewer will meet with at least two participants one on one. Some will run group interviews instead, meeting several candidates at the same time. Either way, you walk in and get real feedback from real employers.

This is the kind of practice that turns nerves into confidence and confidence into a callback. Bring your resume, dress like the job is already yours, and come ready to make an impression.

In 2020, the National Urban League teamed up with BET and other voting advocates to build a day around one simple idea: Black voters deserve to be seen, heard, and organized. That day is here again.

Our voice at the ballot box has shaped elections before, and the midterms are our next chance to do it again. But a plan only works if you actually build one, so let's build it together right now.

A voting plan takes about five minutes to build. Not knowing where to go on Election Day can cost you your vote entirely.

So let's fix that right now.

Find your polling place. Check if early voting or voting by mail works better for your schedule. Then take a little time to research where candidates actually stand on the issues shaping your family, your school, your paycheck, your neighborhood.

This is what it means to reclaim your vote. Not waiting until the last minute and hoping it works out, but showing up informed and ready because you did the work ahead of time.

Most of us can't. And that gap between showing up to vote and actually knowing who and what we're voting for is exactly where our power gets diluted. Our ancestors fought too hard for the ballot for us to walk in unprepared.

Today is Know Your Ballot Day, and it's the perfect nudge to close that gap. Take ten minutes. Pull up your sample ballot. Learn the names, the races, and where each candidate stands on the issues shaping our schools, our streets, and our future in North Omaha.

Since 1927, the Urban League of Nebraska has been right here in North Omaha, opening doors, building bridges, and making sure that opportunity is not just a word on a poster but a real, lived experience for Black families and individuals across this city.

Three partners. One shared mission: stronger neighborhoods. 🏡

Strong neighborhoods start at home. When businesses, nonprofits, and community partners bring their resources together, meaningful change can happen right where people live.

Through the Driveway Repair Initiative, qualifying homeowners may receive approved exterior hardscape improvements, including driveway repairs, at no cost through Parking Area Maintenance's community giveback.

Each partner brings a different piece to the effort:

Donating the labor, equipment, materials, and professional expertise needed for approved repairs.

Supporting broader neighborhood revitalization and investing in the communities we call home.

Urban League of Nebraska | Community Partner
Leading outreach, managing applications, and conducting eligibility screening.

Priority consideration will be given to eligible homeowners within the Game On zone.

To qualify, the property must be residential, owner-occupied, suitable for the approved work, and allow safe access for contractors and equipment. Applicants must be the legal property owner, occupy the property as their primary residence, submit the required application and documentation, and participate in an onsite suitability assessment if selected.
