Prairie Elder Homes are not corporation-owned or one of a hundred chains. They hire skilled caregivers who share their passion for learning and attend training on a regular basis.

>> Residential Neighborhoods & only 6 to 8 residents for personal care

Our homes are located in residential neighborhoods, which help our residents adjust to a new setting because it’s much like their own homes. The setting is intimate with only six to eight residents, and we consider it their home. Through building trusting relationships with family, each of our residents is treated and cared for as an individual. We pay attention to and care about the details of your loved one’s history, preferred routines and lifestyle. At Prairie Elder Homes, their days and activities are too. It’s been a week full of connections, friendships, music, nature, and purpose. We painted🖌️, enjoyed being entertained by Mike🎸, and found fun ways to get exercise through the week. We loved on Hank during his house visits and he loved on us🐶♥️, we enjoyed many family visits through the week, enjoyed walks around the farmstead and in the garden🫜🪏. We enjoyed music and dancing with Maggie, getting manicures, hand massages, and our hair styled💈. We played lots of games this week from uno to scrabble to musical ring toss🎶. We made s’mores with Shae, enjoyed homemade donuts made by Kittis🍩, and polished and organized the jewelry boxes🪎. We enjoyed delicious meals, had poetry writing group with Shae, did activities with our amazing staff, and helped with chores around the houses and the farm. We ended the week making picture frames with Shae and trying a new program on the computer called Timeguess💻.

We enjoyed out patio time this week. We read the Daily Chronicle, discussed memories, and watched all the native KS birds in the cattails by the pond.🐦‍⬛🪺
We have several new staff doing training this week. We wish them luck while they train at PEC University. We look forward to them hitting the floor running wants they finish training. Be sure to introduce yourself if you see a new face😍. Mark Harmon led us in Friends in Faith this week. Our residents and their families really enjoy spiritual time with Mark. ✝️ Of course, we exercise each morning, go on walks, and enjoy family visits and our volunteers♥️. Delania entertained Lake house this week on hand pan🥁and Karen entertained all the houses in her guitar and with her beautiful voice 🎸🎶. We are so fortunate to have so much live music of all kinds for the residents. A highlight this week was one of our sweet family members who happens to be a catering chef, made dinner for the residents. What a fun thing! I understand residents gave the meal 10 out of 10⭐️’s. Shae led the houses in a group shadow box project. They turned out amazing! 🐚
Of course, there were Hank visits, lots of beautiful sites around the garden, sensory garden and koi pond.

This week was a hot one🔥!
All the cool residents😎at PEC didn’t let a little heat and humidity slow them down. We had walks, outdoor time, and patio time early in the day☀️. We enjoyed live music this week with Mike on guitar, Anna entertained on keyboard, and Delana helped us chill out by playing zen music on her hand pan. We visited the neighbors, loved on Hank when he made the rounds🐶, and played several games of scrabble. We picked our first pumpkin from the PEC Patch🎃, played card games with our volunteers Micheal & Laura♣️♦️,and exercised each day of the week. We helped with chores around the farmhouses, did PT & OT with Prairie Health, and help prepare meals 🥗🍝throughout the week. We did a Summer Memories Collage with Shae, played in the jewelry boxes, and did a positive word painting project.🫟🖌️. We enjoyed lots of silliness and laughs throughout the week too. Just ask Marlys(last photo). She has such a fun attitude and keeps us all wearing a smile.😍

Delania helped us relax with her soothing hand pan, Karen entertained us on guitar 🎸, and we enjoyed visiting the animals. Thank you to all our volunteers this week!
