►► Prairie Elder Homes: A comforting alternative to traditional institutional care. Passion and commitment is our homes’ foundations

Prairie Elder Homes are not corporation-owned or one of a hundred chains. Our homes are managed and run by Mandy and Michala, two women committed to continuous learning and seeking the most proven, best practices used to care for and engage people living with dementia. They hire skilled caregivers who share their passion for learning and attend training on a regular basis.

>> Prairie Elder Homes Offer Residential Memory Care Second to None

Prairie Elder Homes offer care that is second to none—a bold statement, but one you can believe. Here, we strive to fill our residents’ days with meaningful activities matched to their interests and functional level. Activities focus on creating positive feelings of accomplishment.

>> Residential Neighborhoods & only 6 to 8 residents for personal care

Our homes are located in residential neighborhoods, which help our residents adjust to a new setting because it’s much like their own homes. The setting is intimate with only six to eight residents, and we consider it their home. Through building trusting relationships with family, each of our residents is treated and cared for as an individual. We pay attention to and care about the details of your loved one’s history, preferred routines and lifestyle. At Prairie Elder Homes, their days and activities are too. One of the unique features you will find in a Prairie Elder Home is the >>Snoezelen Approach> Premium, personalized shouldn’t come only at a premium price

You want the best memory care for your loved one. And price shouldn’t be an obstacle. Everyone deserves dignity and loving care. That’s why Prairie Elder Homes are comparably priced to “institution” facilities. Our all-inclusive monthly fees include:

What a week! How lucky can we get to have friends who bring us a bubble machine?🫧
Mike entertained on Monday, we exercised outside, and enjoyed lots of banter on the back patios. Michael, one of our best volunteers help with watering, filling bird feeders, and weeding. Mark Harmon led Friends in Faith ✝️this week, Lisa hosted book club and led the discussion, and when residents want to eat outside that’s just what we do🍽️! Staff led exercises, we did some very cool games with Shae, and we enjoyed ice cream on the patios🍦. We did a fun and interesting art therapy project using canvas and oils with Shae. Later in the week Shae had us doing a fun craft using different recycled items. We did poetry writing in the barn, enjoyed Jackson the dog’s visit, and loved having Anna play for us in the barn for happy hour Friday🎶. There was fishing, puzzles, brain games and lots of smiles. Our staff participated in dementia trainings all week that included the Gems and positive approach to care. Hank made his rounds daily to lift spirits and spread love and smiles. ♥️

We had a great time celebrating Memorial Day with a cookout and we celebrated Jim’s birthday at farm east.🇺🇸🎂🎉. Hank made the Roy ds daily and kept a close eye a meal prep.🐶🦴we had the best volunteer. D’Shawn loves helping with Hank, visiting with the residents, and helping with activities. The residents love when he volunteers!♥️ we did a fun paint project this week, did puzzles, and helped with garden chores. We exercised, walked around the farmstead, and visited with our neighbors. We helped with chores, sat on the front porches, and loved having Dalana here playing her drum.🥁😍 the Autism Resource Center KC workers helped with garden and animal chores and enjoyed helping prep lunch and visiting with our lovely residents. We have baby bunnies living in our strawberry patch, we loved having little Max visit and play balloon with us, and we welcomed a new resident. Karen livened up the houses with her guitar and songs, and we ended the week learning about rainbows and doing a fun craft.

This week has been full of celebrations, gatherings, and happy moments on the farmstead. Monday we enjoyed music with Mike🎸 , and Anna played music on her piano and we danced the afternoon away💃🕺🏽. We exercised on the patio, baked with Shae, and helped water the plants inside and out🪴. We have the best volunteers who help us around the farm. This week we welcomed Micheal and Laura! Thank you for helping us with the bird feeders🐦‍⬛. We celebrated Polly’s 100th birthday with all the houses involved, we enjoyed drumming with Delana, and we held the baby chicks to get them ready to live on their own. We are proud to report the moved to their new outside coop on Friday🐣🐥🐓. We prepared for our Spring Fling Event on Saturday, loved on Hank all week, did a cool paint activity with Shea, and enjoyed the beautiful grounds at PEC🌸.

We are so lucky and thankful to have 3 of the best guys around helping us on the PEC farm. They work in the garden, with the animals, engage with the residents, and help in the houses. Also, they have their own trail mix business. Keep watching our page for more information on how you can place an order.

Pec Friday Flash⚡️
This week was all about fun, sun, outings, family & friends🥰. We kicked off the week with Joggin Your Noggin on the patios and making the most colorful paper lanterns with Shae. We enjoyed Beverly’s sister visiting, did therapeutic coloring, and enjoyed walks outside and to the garden to visit with some of our amazing volunteers🏆.
We made homemade apple cobbler with Shae🍎, Robin spoiled us in the hair salon, and we enjoyed cookies from Prairie Health celebrating our wonderful nurses Dawn & Linda💉💘. Delana entertained on the hand pan. Such zen music! We did a fun flower paint project with Shae, and loved on Hank during his house visits🐶. We enjoyed Dave’s son who was visiting this week, Barb and her sweet grandson visited farm east, Gal Pal Tanya visited, Sid’s daughter-in-law was here this week, and Karen entertained us with her guitar and wonderful songs🎸. Thursday we attended an ABC Fashion Show in the kindergarten pod at Stilwell Elementary. The students did a great job and residents loved every minute! We ended the week with an ice cream outing, holding our new chicks, exercising with the great therapist from Prairie Health, doing a craft with tissue paper, farm time and doing farm chores🧑‍🌾🌾🐏.
