Start the day with a beautiful sunrise hike on the Rainbow Vista trail. See the sun rise over Silica Dome before continuing on, guided by a Park Ranger, to learn about the Park's geology, wildlife, and plants.

Need to Know:
- Meet at the Rainbow Vista Trailhead (can be found on Google Maps).
- The trailhead is ~2miles north from the turn-off to White Domes Road (also called Mouse's Tank Road). The turn off is ~3.5 miles from both the West and East entrances to the park.
- Pets allowed (must be on a 6 foot leash)
- Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
- Program is weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice. Check the website for updates before you head out.

What to Bring
- Water
- Comfortable shoes
- Weather-appropriate clothing

What to Expect
- A guided hike on the 1-mile long Rainbow Vista Trail.
- Sandy terrain (beachy type sand) and minimal scrambling/navigating over rocks.
- Pace of the hike will be tailored to the group's needs.
- An optional off-trail trek up a steep incline for views of the sunrise.

‼️Temporary Closure of the West Entrance at Valley of Fire State Park‼️

Beginning August 3, 2026, the West Entrance at Valley of Fire State Park will be temporarily closed Monday through Thursday to allow for construction of a new entrance lane and additional fee booth. The project is designed to improve park access and reduce wait times for visitors.

The West Entrance will remain open Friday through Sunday under normal operating hours.

Visitors planning to visit the park Monday through Thursday should enter through the East Entrance, which can be accessed via State Route 169 or State Route 167.

Construction is expected to continue through the end of 2026. Learn more and stay up-to-date at parks.nv.gov/news or by using the link in our bio.

Join one of our Rangers on an educational guided hike down the simple but sandy Mouse's Tank Trail on the night before the full moon.

Need to Know:
The trail 0.75mi/1.2km trail is over loose sand and rough terrain.

What to Bring:
A flashlight with a red, blue, or green setting.
Water.
Comfortable shoes.

What to Expect:
A guided hike with a group of people.
Multiple stops for activities and learning.

Fees & Registration:
No additional fee required; included with regular park entry fees.
Park fees: $10/vehicle (NV residents) / $15/vehicle (non-NV residents)

Enjoy a night under the stars with the Las Vegas Astronomical Society at Valley of Fire State Park! Volunteers will set up their telescopes in the upper parking lot, and all are welcome to come look at and learn about the night sky.

Date: Saturday, July 18
Time: 8:00 - 10:30 pm
Location: Valley of Fire State Park's NEW Visitor Center

* NEED TO KNOW *
- The pavement and air will likely be HOT. Monitor for signs of overheating and dehydration.
- Pets must be kept away from any telescope equipment.
- The rest of the park CLOSES at sunset; guests must be in the area designated for this event after sunset.
- Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
- Program is weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice. Check the website for updates before you head out.
- The telescope area, outdoor amphitheater, and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

* WHAT TO BRING *
- Guests are welcome to bring their own telescopes!
- A chair or blanket/pad to sit on, if desired.
- Flashlight with a red, blue, or green setting (please avoid or limit the use of white lights)
- Weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes.
- Water

* WHAT TO EXPECT *
- A friendly, informal gathering of people interested in the night sky.
- Move between different types of telescopes focused on different galaxies, planets, stars, and more!
- Some Las Vegas Astronomical Society members will also set up screens to view photos.

* FEES AND REGISTRATION *
- Regular Park Fee (per VEHICLE): $10/NV vehicles, $15/out of state vehicles.
- Please pay park fee upon arrival at self-serve kiosks in parking lot by the fee booth.
- No registration required; Drop-ins only.

The Valley of Fire Gift Shop will be closed from July 18 through July 26.
It will reopen on July 27.

The Visitor Center will remain open for normal hours (9am-4pm) during that time.

(Within the next two months we will begin selling some gift shop items online; Keep an eye out for more information!)

Can we find 10 interesting things in just one-tenth of a mile, right next to a parking lot? Let's find out as we take a short stroll along a paved path (close to air conditioning and bathrooms)!

Date: Every Wednesday and Saturday in July
Time: Twice per day, 10am and 2pm (for up to 30 minutes)
Location: Sandstone Loop (on west side of new Visitor Center)

Need to Know:
• Meet at the picnic tables west of the Visitor Center
• The path and surrounding area accommodates wheelchairs and strollers
• Pets allowed

What to Bring
• Water
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Your preferred form(s) of sun protection

What to Expect
• A slow, guided stroll along a 0.1mi/0.16km paved loop path next to the Visitor Center.
• Multiple stops to make observations and learn about geology, wildlife, and more.

• No reservation required (drop-ins only)

From June 23 to July 1, 2026, the RV Dump Station at Valley of Fire State Park will be closed for system upgrades. During this time, visitors will not be able to utilize the facility. Construction will occure nightly between 9:00pm - 7:00am.

Valley of Fire's seasonal trail closures will take place from SUNSET ON MAY 14 - SUNRISE ON OCTOBER 1. (May 15 - September 30)

(Unless stated otherwise, all trail distances below are considered roundtrip/full distance to complete.)

✅ These trails will remain OPEN during our seasonal trail closure:
- Elephant Rock Loop (1.2mi/1.9km)
- Rainbow Vista (1 mi/1.6km)
- Mouse's Tank (0.75mi/1.1km)
- Beehives Connector Trail (0.5mi/0.8km)
- Campground Connector Trail (0.4mi/0.6km)
- Balancing Rock (0.3mi/0.5km)
- Petrified Logs Loop (0.3mi/0.5km)
- Petrified Logs Connector Trail (0.3mi/0.5km)
- Elephant Rock Direct Route (0.2mi/0.3km)
- Sandstone Loop (0.1mi/0.2km)

❌ These trails/areas will be CLOSED during our seasonal trail closure:
- Old Arrowhead Road Trail (6.8mi/10.9km; one-way)
- Charlie's Spring Trail (4.7mi/7.6km)
- Prospect Trail (4.6mi/7.4km; one-way)
- Pinnacles Loop (4.5mi/7.2km)
- Natural Arch Trail (2.5mi/4km) *
- Seven Wonders Loop (includes Fire Wave and Pink/Pastel Canyon) (1.8mi/2.9km)
- White Domes Loop (1.1mi/1.8km) **
- All hiking north of Fire Canyon Road.

* Arch Rock (feature) will remain OPEN.
** White Domes ROAD will remain OPEN.

Extreme heat and hazardous weather conditions have contributed to numerous search and rescue operations in past seasons. These closures prioritize visitor safety and prevent life-threatening situations. Park staff will strictly enforce these closures, and citations may be issued. Hiking in these conditions not only endangers visitors but also places park personnel and emergency responders at risk.

Just a quick reminder…

There’s still time to hit the popular trails at Valley of Fire State Park before seasonal closures begin May 15.

Several popular trails close annually during the summer months, including Fire Wave, White Domes, and Seven Wonders Loop, due to extreme heat and hazardous conditions.

Seasonal closures help protect visitors and reduce the risk of heat-related emergencies during the hottest months of the year.
