Matanuska-Susitna Borough The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is a local government with geography nearly the size of Scotland. It has long been the fastest growing community in Alaska.

The Borough has some 854 employees including part-time, full time, and temporary employees with specialties in emergency response, mapping, internet technology, communications, human resources, land management, engineering and construction, recreation, among many more. Tremendous construction projects were recently completed including $100 million in road projects, $214 million in school bond proj

ects and a few public safety buildings. Such work leads to new jobs, often in the private sector. Such infrastructure development is not happening anywhere else in the state.

Port MacKenzie received the M/V Kobe Harmony on Saturday, May 30th at 5:30pm. The foreign flagged vessel (Singapore) was chartered by Colaska and carries 28,000 metric tons of bagged cement; she is approximately 600’ long.
